ESPN Regional Television (ERT) has partnered with the Heart of Dallas to acquire the Heart of Dallas Bowl. Pending approval of a long-form agreement, ESPN will work with the charitable organization in its ongoing efforts to aid the Dallas community. The Heart of Dallas Bowl is the only college football game named after a charitable organization. Pending approval of the two organizations’ agreement, the bowl will retain its name, The Heart of Dallas Bowl presented by PlainsCapital Bank. It will also continue to offer resources and support to local charities.
Before being name the Heart of Dallas Bowl presented by PlainsCapital Bank, the annual bowl game was known as the TicketCity Bowl. It maintained that name for two seasons before obtaining its new title. The newly re-named bowl game’s first matchup featured the Oklahoma State Cowboys taking on the Perdue University Boilermakers. The Cowboys won the game 58-14. That game raised $100,000 for the Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance. That money helped to put some 225 individuals and families into permanent housing.
The 2014 Heart of Dallas Bowl presented by PlainsCapital Bank is currently scheduled to be played at 12pm ET on Wednesday, January 1st.
