Ovtlier debuted its latest single over the weekend.
The band premiered its new single, ‘Nemesis‘ Friday. The song’s premiere came a month after the premiere of the band’s then latest single, ‘Blame The Dead.’
The musical arrangement featured in the band’s new single is a heavy, intense composition. There are groove metal leanings throughout the song, and some more pure metal elements throughout the work. That combination of elements makes the song comparable, stylistically, to works from the likes of Lamb of God, Unearth, and Slipknot.
The song’s lyrical theme takes on the issue of facing narcissists, said front man Joey Arena.
“We’ve all encountered narcissistic individuals who hide behind a mask,” he said. “There are many snakes out there, ones who try to get close, only to gather intel and use it against you. I pride myself on keeping it truthful and transparent with everyone I meet and that will get you both loved and hated. The best part is I believe in healthy boundaries and it usually weeds out those who are not good company. I live my life by ‘do no harm, take no shit’; If I don’t like you, you’ll know it. ‘Nemesis’, it’s in the name”.

Ovtlier recently released its latest single and companion lyric video.
The band premiered its single, ‘Spineless (ft. Danny Leal Jr.)‘ and its companion lyric video Oct. 22. The premiere came less than a month after the band premiered its then latest single, ‘All I Need‘ and its video. Leal is the front man for the metal band Upon A Burning Body.
Leal talked about joining Ovtlier for the song in a prepared statement.
“[Ovtlier front man] Joey [Arena] first asked me if I would feature on this track,” said Leal. “Like any other I wanted to make sure it was something that I felt I could fit in with. I was super pumped on the sound this band has going and am a legitimate fan of this track.”
The musical arrangement featured in ‘Spineless (ft. Danny Leal, Jr.) is a heavy, intense composition. The use of the guitars against the subtle backing keyboard that opens the song sets such a powerful, ominous mood. As the song progresses from there, the verses present a distinct Slipknot-esque sound while the choruses are more melodic but still hard.
No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the press release announcing the song and video’s debut. Reading through the lyrics presented in the song’s lyric video, it would seem that the song deals with emotions felt in dealing with someone who is simply not a good person.
The song’s lyric video features the song’s lyrics placed against a red backdrop. At the bottom, a person lies curled up in a sort of fetal position. This is all presented as the song plays over that visualization.

Ovtlier premiered the video for its latest single this week.
The band debuted the video for its new single, ‘All I Need‘ Wednesday. The video’s premiere comes less than a week after the band premiered the song by itself.
The video features the band performing its new single in what looks like a darkened warehouse setting. That footage is paired with what is assumed to be a semi-autobiographical presentation of front man Joey Arena’s childhood.
That is assumed considering comments made by Arena in a prepared statement in a press release announcing the song’s premiere over the weekend.
“I was raised on unstable grounds,” the statement reads. “Therapy taught me to stop making excuses for those that have abused and abandoned me. A man that distantly titled himself as a “father” but neglected every simple duty of being one. A stepfather who looked for excuses to beat on me or throw me out for years. I accept that this is the hand that I am dealt. I respect and appreciate the journey I have been shaped and designed to travel. I am all I need”
It should be noted that some viewers may find some of the content in that main story unsettling. In other words, viewer discretion is advised. That imagery in question involves scenes of domestic disputes and one of the main characters flogging himself.
The musical arrangement featured in ‘All I need’ is of some interest. That is because the primary guitar line featured in this arrangement lends itself easily to comparison to that featured in Deftones’ hit song’ My Own Summer (Shove It).’ A close listen to each song reveals the similarity in sound. It is not precise, but is there.
As the arrangement progresses though, that guitar line gradually evolves and offers a heavy, dark sound that is complimented just as well by the song’s bass line and vocals from Arena.

Gemini Syndrome is scheduled to head back out on the road next month in support of its new album.
The band is scheduled to launch its new headlining tour in support of 3rd Degree — The Raising, Oct. 28. The album is scheduled for release Oct. 15 through Century Media Records. Ovtlier, Oh! The Horror, Pushing Veronica, and Them Damn Kings are scheduled to serve as support throughout the nearly month-long run.
Front man Aaron Nordstrom spoke about the upcoming tour in a prepared statement.
“We’re very excited to be back out in the road again this fall,” said Nordstrom. “It’s a time of transformation on our planet and our lives in preparation for the rebirth of the approaching solstice. We’re grateful to share this INITIATION with all you Spiritual Soldiers on the frontline helping to bring music back to this f***** up world.”
Added Nordstrom, “Our hope is that through sharing our experiences, lessons learned, and battles overcome, that we can help others to examine their own consciousness. Their role in the world in its almost infinite capacity, and to help remind each other that we are ALL in this together. We are a family, and when we are United in our commonality, we can achieve things worthy of the attention of the GODS. If you want to change the world, quietly go to work on yourself.”
Drummer Brian Steele Medina expanded on Nordstrom’s comments.
“We love nothing more than performing and creating a sacred space for transmutation with our brothers and sisters,” he said. “Now more than ever, it feels like everything is trying to pull us apart and perpetuate the illusion that we are separate. That we are not ONE. It’s all b*******. Give us your pandemics, your Pentagon UFO videos, and your barriers… It’s all f****** noise, but we’re louder and we will rise above it all.”
The schedule for Gemini Syndrome’s upcoming live run is noted below. The tour comes on the heels of another tour that the band recently ran, and most recently, a performance at the Blue Ridge Rock Festival on Sept. 10. Tickets and VIP packages for the band’s upcoming tour are available here.

Ovtlier debuted the video for its latest single this week.
The band premiered the video for its single, ‘Bulletproof‘ Thursday through Decibel magazine. The video’s premiere comes less than a month after the band debuted the single by itself.
The video features the band performing its new single in what looks like the darkened corners of a warehouse and pairs that with footage of people taking their frustrations from their workplaces out against others in a fight club type setting. One of those people is a man who is being harassed by his boss despite doing his job the best he can. The other is a woman who has to endure being sexually harassed at her job.
According to information provided about the video, it features two fighters from Gladius Fights and Bomb Squad in the fight scenes. While the video features two people releasing their daily frustrations in such setting, the song’s lyrical theme is decidedly different, according to comments from front man Joey Arenas.
“We live in an age where everything has become politicized; from image to virus,” he said. “I have watched both bands and people label and segregate one another solely based on a difference of not character but opinion. We are force-fed so much false information by the media, although many are aware, we still have lost some humanity. I have grown impatient with the amount of ignorance and hypocrisy that spews from the puppets of this world. Anger would be an understatement. I look forward to the day people can look to grey area and realize there’s more to it all.”
Added Arenas, “‘Bulletproof’ is a call to my fellow man to remove the veils and look into the grey. These corrupt politicians are playing you. I don’t care what side you stand on or what bias feelings you hold to your “party”. I’m not left or right, up or down. I look at character and could care less about the empty promises and b******* they are selling to your emotions only to gain a vote. I refuse to be a pawn in their game.”
Arenas concluded, “We will never divide our audience based on age, sex, identity or politics, for our goal is to bring love and light together. Our “leaders” don’t want unity for that becomes a threat to agenda. I’m fed up. I want the old model to fall so we can build within its stead. It’s time for change and that starts with us.”
The musical arrangement featured in ‘Bulletproof’ immediately lends itself to comparison to works from Dry Kill Logic, Chimera, and Whitechapel. That is evidenced through the heavy, aggro-rock/metal style approach and sound to the song. The balance of the screams and clean vocals makes for comparisons to the likes of Tremonti and Sevendust.

Ovtlier debuted the video for its latest single over the weekend.
The band debuted the lyric video for its song ‘Who We Are’ Friday through BraveWords.com. The lyric video’s debut comes more than three months after the band debut the song’s original video. It premiered that video through altpress.com.
The new lyric video places the song’s lyrics over various backdrops, some of which feature pictures of the band performing, and others filled with dirt and flames.
The musical arrangement at the center of ‘Who We Are’ is, like its predecessor — ‘Buried Me Alive‘ — a melodic hard rock composition that also incorporates a certain aggro-rock element into the mix to make the song whole. The band worked with Ice Nine Kills member Justin “JD” deBlieck on ‘Who We Are,’ just as with ‘Buried Me Alive.’
Front man Joey Arena had the following to say of the lyrical content featured in ‘Who We Are’ in the band’s interview with BraveWords.com:
“’Who We Are’ will hold a special place in the Ovtlier arsenal,” he said. “A song that skims the surface of a personal hell; I have swept a lot of childhood trauma under the rug and just kept it moving throughout life. It feels damn near impossible to trust or let anyone in so I keep everyone at arms length. Something I am currently working on and because I am determined to re-wire some of my perception pertaining to that, I look forward to the day this song is only an artifact to a past self. Everything we go through starting with day number one is what shapes us into ‘Who We Are’,”
‘Who We Are’ is available to stream and download here.
