Another Day Dawns Debuts New Single, ‘Bitter,’ Companion Video; Announces New Live Dates

Courtesy: Century Media

Another Day Dawns debuted its latest single this week, along with the song’s video.

The band premiered its new single, ‘Bitter‘ Tuesday, along with the song’s video. The single features a heavy, intense musical arrangement that boasts elements of Djent within its aggro-rock body. Throughout the course of the song’s three-minute-plus run time, the intensity in the energy and the stylistic approach makes it comparable to works from the likes of Periphery. The vocal delivery of front man Dakota Sean, which at times offer clean vocals and at others screams, add even more to that comparison.

According to Sean, the song’s lyrical theme addresses the matter of unresolved issues that we all have; that proverbial white elephant that people would rather not address with others.

“‘Bitter’ really goes to the root of uncomfortable situations with people in our lives that never get addressed, and there’s just this kinda ‘off’ feeling about them,” Sean said. “In this case, it’s a parental figure that left at a young age, which made me go through life in a bitter way. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned that separation really is the best defense in these scenarios. But unfortunately, that ‘what if’ will always be in the back of your mind.”

The song’s video is a familiar style presentation. It features the band performing its new single on a soundstage that is dressed to resemble a live setting. Various video effects and camera angles are used throughout the song to add to the impact of the video and song.

In other news, Another Day Dawns is scheduled to tour alongside Breaking Benjamin and Bush through most of April and May. The bands’ tour is scheduled to launch April 26 in North Myrtle Beach, SC and to run through May 23 in Knoxville, TN. Lost In Static Honors Fallen Friend In New Single, Video

Courtesy: Asher Media Relations

Independent metal band Lost in Static debuted the video for its latest single this week.

The band debuted the lyric video for its new single ‘Jordan‘ Thursday. The song and video are the second from the band’s forthcoming self-titled debut album, which is scheduled for release later this year.  Its release date will be announced later.

Lost in Static debuted the video for the album’s lead single, ‘Feel Alive‘ more than nine months ago.

The video features footage of the aftermath of a motor vehicle collision and crosses that with the song’s lyrics, which according to a statement about the song, are about a friend of the band who died in a wreck.

“Our new single “Jordan” is our second track to be released from our upcoming debut record,” the statement reads. “’Jordan’ was a childhood friend who unfortunately lost his life from drinking and driving. This song was written in his honour. It’s heavy, it’s beautiful and we hope everyone is going to love it as much as we do!”

The story serves as a starting point for discussions on the dangers of drunk driving and in relation, the disease that is alcoholism.

The song’s musical arrangement is a fiery composition that translates well, the emotions felt by the band members when they learned of their friend’s passing.  Its heavy guitars, screaming vocal delivery and pounding drums and  bass will appeal to fans of bands, such as Whitechapel, Periphery, and Born of Osiris.

‘Jordan’ is available to stream and download here.

The Dead Centuries Debuts ‘Pop A Soda’ Video

Courtesy: Asher Media Relations

Independent rock band The Dead Centuries debuted the video for its latest single this month.

The band debuted the video for its single ‘Pop A Soda‘ June 10.  The instrumental song’s arrangement is what many might call “math metal,” lending itself to comparisons to works from the likes of Periphery, Scale The Summit and Intervals.  It features a guest appearance by Intervals bassist Jacob Umansky.

The band addressed bringing Umansky on board for the song and about the song in general in a collective statement.

“We’re extremely excited to release this track as we feel it marks a big step forward in terms of songwriting, composition, playing, and production,” the statement reads.  We think the sonic depth in “Pop A Soda” is more interesting, ear-catching, and rewarding than previous efforts from the band, and we think listeners will love the caliber of this track. The inclusion of Jacob Umansky (Intervals/JIA) on bass brings another element to the track that helped us get closer to our vision.”

‘Pop A Soda’ is available to stream and download at Spotify, Apple Music and The Dead Centuries’ official bandcamp page.

Altostratus Debuts ‘Persea Americana’ Video

Courtesy: Altostratus/Earshot Media

Prog-metal band Altostratus debuted the video for its latest single over the weekend.

The band debuted the video for its single ‘Persea Americana‘ Friday.  The song is featured in the band’s latest album, Complete The Connection and is the third single from the album. The wholly tongue-in-cheek video follows the final days of the life of “Avocado Man.”

On one end, the video presents plenty of laughs for audiences with the very setup of a man in an avocado suit responding to orders for guacamole.  On another level, it will touch audiences deeply with its underlying lyrical theme of accepting our mortality while also entertaining audiences with its heavy musical arrangement.  The arrangement will appeal to fans of bands, such as Tesseract, Periphery and Animals As Leaders.

Bassist Andrew Smith talked about the new video in a recent interview.

“Persea Americana” and the preceding short film, “Holy Guacamole (The Consummation)” tell the story of the conception, birth, life and death of the aptly named, Avocado Man,” he said. “The original story for the video was originally intended as a framework to match the dynamics of the track but as we started creating the video and the ideas started flowing, themes of death and acceptance started weaving their way into it. The short film shows the power of will and love, and what lengths we’ll go to for the people we love. The music video, on the other hand, is about the inevitability of death, and the anxiety that comes with realizing your own mortality. Avocado Man was never meant to be, and once he and the people he loves come to terms with this, only then can they find peace. Ultimately though, it’s about an Avocado that works in the fast food industry and the spooky spells that were conjured to bring him to life.”

The teaser movie for the aforementioned short film is streaming here.

This year, the Monster Energy Carolina Rebellion Festival celebrates its fifth anniversary with one of its biggest lineups to date. The fifth annual festival will feature no fewer than thirty-six acts over two days. The acts tapped to perform this year include some of the biggest names in rock’s past, present, and future. We’re honored to be playing in the company of Cheap Trick, one of my all-time favorites, as well as playing with such good friends like Korn, Halestorm and Slayer!” Korn front man Jonathan Davis explained that the Carolina Rebellion festival plays a very important part in that band’s history as it served as the point of reunion for the band with guitarist Brian “Head” Welch in 2012. “Three years ago, we reunited with our brother Head on stage at Carolina Rebellion. Since then, we made a new album and toured the world together,” he said. He went on to note that the reunion means even more as the band plans on playing its debut album in its entirety at this year’s festival.
