Eagles, Redskins Round Out NFL’s Week 7 Schedule Live Monday Night

The Eagles and Redskins close out week 7 in the NFL live Monday night on ESPN.

The NFC East divisional foes will play live on ESPN’s Monday Night Football in the final game of the week in what will be a crucial game for both teams.  The Eagles (5 – 1) currently sit atop the NFC East and the NFC standings while the Redskins (3 – 2) sit second in the division. Washington is also in a close battle for sixth place in the conference alongside Seattle, New Orleans and Atlanta.

All four teams play this week, meaning each game is pivotal for each team as the season nears its halfway point.  The host Eagles are undefeated at home so far this season going 2 – 0 so far at home, while the Redskins are winless on the road at 0 – 1 on that record.  Considering each team’s overall records, Monday’s matchup will be pivotal for each organization for a number of reasons.

Coverage of Monday’s game starts at 6 p.m. with Monday Night Countdown, hosted by Suzy Kolber.  Kolber will be joined, as she is each week, by ESPN NFL analysts Matt Hasselbeck, Randy Moss, Charles Woodson and Steve Young.  ESPN NFL Insiders Chris Mortensen Louis Riddick and Adam Schefter will also be on hand along with ESPN senior fantasy sports analyst Matthew Berry and the Monday Night Football broadcast crew of Sean McDonough, Jon Gruden and Lisa Salters.

McDonough and Gruden will have the call for Monday’s game beginning at 8:15 p.m. live from Lincoln Financial Field.  Salters will be on the sidelines with all of the latest in-game news and interviews.

ESPN Adds Chip Kelly To Its College Football Broadcast Roster

ESPN has added a new big name to its college football coverage roster.

Chip Kelly was named the latest addition this week to the network’s roster of college football analysts.  Kelly, who has more than 30 years experience in college and professional football, will serve as a studio analyst for many of the network’s college football broadcasts. According to a press release from ESPN, Kelly will also appear on Friday and Sunday editions of SportsCenter to offer insight on college and NFL matchups.

Lee Fitting, ESPN Senior Coordinating Producer, called Kelly’s outside the box approach as a coach one of his major strong points while discussing his addition to the network’s on-air football roster.

“Chip is one of the most innovative football minds of our generation,” Fitting said.  “As a coach, he saw the game from a unique perspective, never afraid to take an unconventional approach.  We want him to bring that mentality to our college football coverage each week, offering fans a varying viewpoint outside of the conventional thought process.”

Kelly said in response, he intended to use that unconventional approach when he begins his time with the network, adding he is anticipating starting the next chapter of his football career with ESPN.

“Over the last 30 years, I have experienced football from one perspective – as a coach,” Kelly said.  “Working in television will allow me to see the game from a different angle; simultaneously;  I’ll provide viewers an insight to the mindset of a coach and team while offering alternative views of various situations.  Once I decided to make the move to television, my familiarity with ESPN, combined with their high-quality productions and vital role in college football, it was easily the best network suited for me.”

From 2009 – 12, Kelly served as head coach of the University of Oregon’s football team, compiling a record of 46 – 7.  That record included wins in the Rose Bowl and Fiesta Bowl, and a trip to the College Football National Championship.  In 2009 and ’10, he led the Ducks to the Pac-10 title.  He also led the team to the Pac-12 title.

His time at the helm in Oregon is only one part a 24-year college football career.  Before taking the helm at Oregon, he also spent two years as the team’s offensive coordinator. He spent the past four seasons in the National Football League, including a stint at the helm of the Philadelphia Eagles.

While leading the Eagles, Kelly led the team to a 10 – 6 record and led the team to the NFC East title.

Kelly’s own accolades include Pac-10 Coach of the year in 2009.  He earned four separate coach of the year awards in 2010 including the Associated Press Coach of the Year award.

Kelly will start his on-air college football career with ESPN with the start of this year’s college football season.

Bears, Eagles Face Off In NFC Inter-Divisional Matchup Monday Night On ESPN

The Bears and Eagles face off in week 2 of the NFL’s 2016 – ’17 regular season Monday night on ESPN.

Jay Cutler and the Bears will look to rebound from a Week 1 loss to the Texans Monday night as they take on rookie QB Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.  The Eagles opened the season last week with a convincing 29 – 10 win over the Cleveland Browns and look to ride that momentum into another win this week when they come into Chicago.

The Bears currently sit last in the NFC North while the Eagles are flying high in the NFC East, vying for the top spot in the division.  The Eagles sit second in the division to the now 2 – 0 New York Giants.

Coverage of Monday night’s game is expected to begin at 8:15pm ET.  Sean McDonough will have the call in Monday night’s game.  He will be joined in the booth by Jon Gruden for additional commentary.  Lisa Salters will also be on hand for all of the latest in-game news and interviews.

Monday Night Countdown will precede Monday’s NFC interdivisional matchup with Suzy Kolber at the helm.  Coverage begins at 6pm ET.  She will be joined at the desk live on site in Chicago by analysts Trent Dilfer, Matt Hasselbeck, Randy Moss, Charles Woodson, and Steve Young.  Chris Berman and Adam Schefter will join Kolber and company live from ESPN’s studios in Bristol, CT.

Michelle Beisner-Buck will present her weekly feature for the Monday Night Countdown live from Chicago as part of the night’s broadcast.

Monday Night Football is simulcast live in Spanish on ESPN Deportes for ESPN’s Spanish-speaking audiences and online via WatchESPN for anyone that won’t be near a television during the game’s broadcast.

Eagles, Panthers Close Out Week 10 Of NFL’s 2014 – 2015 Season

Week 10 of the 2014 – 2015 NFL season closes out Monday night on ESPN when the Carolina Panthers come in to Philadelphia to face the Eagles.

The conference matchup is an important one for both teams.  Both teams will be looking to add another notch to their “W” column.  Philadelphia is currently 6 – 2 on the season.  Carolina on the other hand, is currently 3 – 5 on the season.  So a win will mean just as much for both teams.  For Carolina, it would mean being one game closer to getting back in the black.  For Philadelphia, it would be another important step towards the team’s playoff hopes for this season.  Philadelphia is 3 – 1 in its last five games and 3 – 2 against conference opponents.  Against non-conference foes, Philly is 3 – 0.  Carolina is 3 – 3 so far in conference play and have gone 0 – 3 – 1 in its last five games.  It has lost its last three games, too.  So a win against a conference foe Monday night would be just as big for the Eagles as for the Panthers as the season progresses.

Adding to the storylines for Monday’s game, Philadelphia is undefeated at home so far this season, going 4 – 0 at home.  Carolina on the other hand is 1 – 2 – 1 on the road.  That means that Carolina will come in to Monday night’s game very much the underdog.  Interestingly enough, Cam Newton is a perfect 2 – 0 on Monday Night Football as are the Eagles and head coach Chip Kelly.  This makes Monday night’s matchup all the more exciting for fans.

Mike Tirico will have the call for Monday night’s game.  He will be joined in the booth by analyst Jon Gruden.  ESPN will have more than five hours of coverage for Monday night’s game before kickoff.  It all leads up to Monday night’s pregame coverage on Monday Night Countdown at 6pm ET.  Suzy Kolber will anchor that broadcast.  She will be joined by NFL analysts Trent Dilfer, Ray Lewis, and Steve Young.  Studio host Chris Berman will be joined by NFL analysts Cris Carter, Mike Ditka, Tom Jackson, and Keyshawn Johnson and ESPN NFL Insiders Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter.
