Prog-metal band Red Cain has been recognized for its work.

The band has been nominated in the category of Metal Recording of the Year in this year’s YYC Music Awards.  The nomination is for the single ‘Juliet (ft. Daniel Louden of Benevolent like Quietus).  The song is featured in the band’s debut album KindredAct 1, which the band released in June.  KindredAct I is available to stream and download through Shop SliptrickApple MusicSpotify, and Bandcamp.

The band was humble as it talked in a prepared statement, about the nomination.

“We are extremely honoured to be nominated for the YYCMA Metal Recording of the Year for the 3rd time with our track ‘Juliet [feat. Daniel Louden]’,” the statement reads. “This was a favourite song of ours to write – a goth rock anthem that in many ways highlights our sound – and it became quite the collaboration. We invited Daniel Louden of Calgary band Benevolent Like Quietus to sing alongside our vocalist Evgeniy Zayarny, and first featured Tyler Corbett (on bass from our good friends Osyron) – who has taken up the lead guitar and production duties on our upcoming album “Kindred: ACT II”. We also worked with Calgary director and friend Rik Zak to film our “Juliet” music film, which has to date won 7 international awards.”

“This song was truly hosted by a cornucopia of local talent,” the statement further reads. “We can’t thank enough the wonderful organizers of the YYC Music Awards, who’ve made this the premier music event in Calgary, but also all the local bands, musicians, journalists, venues – everyone involved with the Calgary and Canadian music scene. It’s difficult terrain right now, but celebrating each other’s achievements and pushing on is how all great stories are written. And we are extremely proud that our own musical stories resonated enough within the scene to land us this nomination in 2020.”

Red Cain Debuts New LP’s Lead Single

Independent rock band Red Cain debuted the first single from its new album this week.

The band debuted ‘Demons’ Friday through Sonic Perspectives.  The song is the lead single from the band’s forthcoming album KindredAct II, which is scheduled for release in October.  The song’s musical arrangement is a power metal style work that will appeal to fans of bands, such as Amaranthe, Kamelot and Symphony X.

Its lyrical content is heavy in its own right.  According to a statement from the band, the song — which is part of the group’s ongoing “Kindred” story line — deals with a demon summoning gone wrong.

The band discussed the song in a recent interview.

“In what is becoming a tradition, we remember our roots and continue our romp through “Kindred: Act II” with this goth rock anthem evocative of the delicious, bloody melancholy of Charon, 69 Eyes, Lord of the Lost, with a touch of Sisters of Mercy lost between the lines. This was a super fun track to write and play. It flowed naturally for us, and we put it into music with minimal changes – and haven’t stopped enjoying it since. Best consumed ice-cold, on moonlit night drives, an eldritch, forgotten places – with bloody abandon. Feast, friends!”

KindredAct I is available to stream and download through Shop Sliptrick, Apple Music, Spotify, and Bandcamp.  The release date for KindredII will be announced in coming days.  More information on the album is available along with all of the band’s latest news at:
