Michael Schenker Fest Debuts New Video; Announces New Live Dates

Michael Schenker Fest debuted the video for its new single this week.

The band debuted the lyric video for its new single ‘The Girl With The Stars in Her Eyes‘ on Tuesday.  The song is featured in the band’s debut album Resurrection, which was released last year through Nuclear Blast Records. The band is named after its founder, former UFO/Scorpions guitarist Michael Schenker.

The video features a young woman dancing in a variety of settings, such as a dimply lit club, an open space with flaming twirlers and against a starlit background.  The song itself boasts a very 80s influenced hard rock sound while its lyrical theme obviously is about a young woman.

‘The Girl With The Stars in Her Eyes’ is just the latest single to be spawned from Resurrection.  The album has also spawned the singles ‘Take Me To The Church,’ ‘Warrior‘ and ‘Heart and Soul.’

Michael Schenker Fest will release its sophomore album Aug. 23 through Nuclear Blast Records.  According to Schenker, the album’s title is Revelation.  He talked about that and the album in whole in a recent interview.

“Based on the fun that we had recording Resurrection, the success of the album and the surrounding tours we undertook that were just fantastic, I was deeply inspired to make a start on writing new songs for a new Michael Schenker Fest album,” Schenker said.  “It is even a step up from Resurrection, with amazing input from all singers and all musicians.  I could not ask for a better result.  The songs are blazing, snappy, energetic, melodic, and with drummers like Simon Phillips and Bodo Shopf we got amazing results.  this time we even managed to record three great mid-tempo songs with all singers involved, singing their hearts out.”

Schenker added, “The album title and cover concept expresses things that have happened in my past as well as what is still happening at the present time.  It’s about passion and purity versus greed and corruption.  There is much to say.  It’s about time I let people know about some of this.”

Revelation was co-produced by Schenker and Michael Voss.  It was mastered by Christoph ‘Doc’ Stickel for CS Mastering/Vienna, Austria.

Michael Schenker Fest Debuts ‘Take Me To The Church’ Video

Courtesy: Nuclear Blast Records

Michael Schenker has debuted the video for the latest single from his new Michael Schenker Fest record.

The band debuted the video for the song ‘Take Me To The Church‘ today.  Mixing footage of the band’s recent performance in St. Petersburg, Russia with footage of Schenker and his vocalists — Doogie White, Graham Bonnett and Robin McAuley — inside a church in the city, the video is the third to come from the album.  It comes a little more than seven months after the debut of the lyric video for the album’s opener, ‘Heart and Soul.’  The album’s lead single ‘Warrior‘ saw its video debut on Dec. 1, 2017.

Schenker commented on the video, saying it was a positive experience.

“The process was an interesting experience!,” Schenker said.  “The fans in Russian were great for the video, too.”

MSF singer Doogie White expanded on Schenker’s thoughts, explaining the fan response to the song was what led to it becoming the album’s next single and video.

“‘Take Me To The Church’ was the obvious choice, given the terrific response in the live arena and from fans and reviewers alike, so we decided to bite the bullet and shoot a video,” White said.  “This was the first of three songs Michael and I wrote for the Resurrection album, continuing the partnership we started with ‘Temple of Rock.’ It is always fascinating to see how others interpret lyrics and bring them to life visually.  We also knew that fans would want to see live footage of the line-up. We added that, too.  So once you have watched the video and learned your lines, you can sing along when we come to a town or city near you. Alright.”

Along with the video’s debut, the group debuted the finished video’s behind-the-scenes making of companion video August 14.  The video clocks in at just one minute, 44 seconds, but offers its own entertainment value.  It is streaming here.

Michael Schenker Fest will be touring Japan later this month and next month.  After taking some time off following that run, the band will launch the European leg of its tour in support of Resurrection.  All of those tour dates are noted below.
