ESPN Carrying Three Games To Celebrate Opening Night Of NHL’s 2021-22 Season

The National Hockey League opens its 2021-22 season tonight and ESPN will be along for the ride.

The ESPN networks will carry three games to celebrate the season’s start. Two of the games will air as part of a double header on ESPN. Up first in the double header schedule is a matchup of the defending NHL Champion Tampa Bay Lightning and Pittsburgh Penguins at 7:30 p.m. ET. The expansion Seattle Kraken and the Las Vegas Golden Knights follow at 10:15 p.m.

The Anaheim Ducks and Minnesota Wild are also scheduled to play tonight. That game’s start time is scheduled for 10:15 p.m. ET. It will stream online through ESPN+

Sean McDonough will have the call for the Lightning-Penguins game. Analyst Ray Ferraro will join him for additional commentary while reporter Emily Kaplan will have all of the latest in-game news and interviews.

John Buccigross will anchor coverage of the Kraken-Golden Knights game. Brian Boucher will provide additional commentary while reporter A.J. Mlezcko will have the game’s latest news and interviews.

Over on ESPN+, Leah Hextall will anchor the streaming coverage of the Ducks and Wild. Boucher will join her in the analyst role while Linda Cohn will have all of that game’s latest news and interviews.

Arda Ocal, Ryan Callahan, and John Tortorella will provide mid-game discussion and analysis during intermissions.

ESPN’s ‘MNF’ Preseason Coverage Begins Tonight

Monday Night Football launches its 2017 National Football League broadcast season tonight with a pre-season cross conference matchup.

ESPN’s flagship NFL program begins its 2017 broadcast season with a showdown between the Jacksonville Jaguars (AFC South) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NFC South).  The matchup is just one of the games on the schedule for the second week of the NFL’s 2017 preseason.

Jacksonville will look to add a second notch to its win column in the preseason after defeating the New England Patriots 31 – 24 in week 1.  The Bucs will look to bounce back and get its first win of the preseason after falling to the Cincinnati Bengals in week 1 23 – 12.

Sean McDonough will have the call for tonight’s game, which is set for 8 p.m. on ESPN and ESPN Deportes.  He will be joined in the booth by analyst Jon Gruden for additional commentary.  Reporter Lisa Salters will be on the sidelines for all of the latest in-game news and interviews.

Monday Night Countdown will set the stage for tonight’s game beginning at 7 p.m. ET with Suzy Kolber at the helm.  She will be joined by analysts Matt Hasselbeck, Randy Moss and Charles Woodson for additional commentary alongside NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

ESPN will also have full coverage of the preseason week 2 match between the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns Aug. 21. the Browns defeated the New Orleans Saints 20 – 14 in preseason week 1 while the Giants fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers 20 – 12 that week.

ESPN Announces 2017-18 ‘MNF’ Broadcast Schedule

The unofficial countdown to the start of the 2017 – 2018 NFL season starts in only a few days with the start of the 2017 NFL Draft, and in anticipation of the big day, ESPN has released its Monday Night Football broadcast schedule for the upcoming season.

The 48^th season of ESPN’s Monday Night Football begins Monday, Sept. 11 with a double-header schedule.  The Saints and Vikings open the night in an NFC inter-divisional matchup at 6:55 p.m. ET.

The Chargers (in their first season in Los Angeles) will face off against the Broncos in an AFC West matchup.  Coverage is scheduled to start at 10:15 p.m. ET/7;15 p.m. PT.

ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcast team of Sean McDonough and Jon Gruden and Lisa Salters will cover the night’s early game.  The on-air team for the late game will be announced soon.  Suzy Kolber will anchor the ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown pre-game show throughout the season along with the network’s halftime and post-game SportsCenter live from each game’s location.

Both of last season’s Super Bowl teams will make appearances on Monday Night Football appearances this season.  The Patriots will appear Dec. 11 against Miami.  Atlanta will make two appearances on MNF this season.  The team’s first appearance will be Nov. 20 in Seattle against the Seahawks and the second on Dec. 18 against Tampa Bay.

All 12 of last season’s playoff teams will also make appearances on MNF this season. Eight teams will have two appearances.  Nine of 17 of this season’s MNF game will feature divisional matchups.

The network’s preseason NFL coverage starts Thursday, Aug. 17 as the Bucs take on the Jaguars in Jacksonville.  The Browns will play host to the Giants on Aug. 21 to round out the pre-season.

ESPN Deportes will offer Spanish-language broadcasts of every game this season while fans will once again be able to stream games online via WatchESPN and the ESPN app.

Carolina, Washington Close NFL’s Week 15 Schedule Live On ESPN

Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers go under the lights live Monday night on ESPN when they take on the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football.

Last season’s runners-up in the Super Bowl, the Panthers have struggled to repeat last season’s success this season. Carolina sits last in the NFC South at 5 – 8 so far on the season. The “Cardiac Cats” are 4 – 5 in their conference, 1 – 3 in non-conference play, and 2 – 3 in their last five games.  Their last win came last week as they defeated the San Diego Chargers 28 – 16.

A win by the Panthers Monday night coupled with a loss by the New Orleans Saints on Sunday would potentially pull the Panthers out of the NFC South basement.  That’s because both teams sit at 5 – 8 on the season.

The Panthers’ playoff hopes are slim to nil win or lose Monday night.  On the other hand, Monday night’s game has even more importance for Washington, which sits 3^rd in the NFC East at 7 – 5 – 1 so far on the season with its only tie coming earlier in the season against Cincinnati.

Washington’s NFC East opponents, the Dallas Cowboys, have already punched their ticket to the postseason.  Washington comes into Monday night’s game on the heels of a 27 – 22 win over Philadelphia in Week 14.  Washington has also proven better at home on the road this season than on the road, going 4 – 2 at home and 3 – 3 – 1 on the road.

Monday’s NFC Inter-Divisional matchup can go either way.  The Panthers have nothing to lose while Washington has much more to lose.  So each team will be giving its all once the lights go on and the cameras go live.

Monday’s game will be simulcast in Spanish on ESPN Deportes for the network’s Spanish-speaking audiences.  It will also stream live online on WatchESPN and the ESPN app.

ESPN To Feature AFC Showdown Monday Night

Brock Osweiller will face his former teammates Monday night on ESPN when the Broncos play host to the Texans on the network’s weekly NFL showcase Monday Night Football.

Monday night’s matchup between the AFC rivals will have equal importance for both teams. The Broncos come in to Monday night’s game in the heels of a tough 21 – 13 loss to San Diego while Houston will be looking to add another notch to its “W” column after last week’s 26 – 23 win over Indianapolis.

A win will be especially important for either team because of the teams’ current standings.  Houston currently leads the AFC South division, and another win for the Texans would pad the team’s lead over the Titans, who currently sit second in the division at 3 – 3.

The Broncos are currently tied with the Oakland Raiders atop the AFC West standings at 4 – 2. So a win for Denver would either give Denver the division lead or keep the teams tied depending on the outcome of Oakland’s matchup against Jacksonville on Sunday.  A loss by one or either team would be just as impacting.

Bears, Eagles Face Off In NFC Inter-Divisional Matchup Monday Night On ESPN

The Bears and Eagles face off in week 2 of the NFL’s 2016 – ’17 regular season Monday night on ESPN.

Jay Cutler and the Bears will look to rebound from a Week 1 loss to the Texans Monday night as they take on rookie QB Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.  The Eagles opened the season last week with a convincing 29 – 10 win over the Cleveland Browns and look to ride that momentum into another win this week when they come into Chicago.

The Bears currently sit last in the NFC North while the Eagles are flying high in the NFC East, vying for the top spot in the division.  The Eagles sit second in the division to the now 2 – 0 New York Giants.

Coverage of Monday night’s game is expected to begin at 8:15pm ET.  Sean McDonough will have the call in Monday night’s game.  He will be joined in the booth by Jon Gruden for additional commentary.  Lisa Salters will also be on hand for all of the latest in-game news and interviews.

ESPN Turns Its Attention To The Big 10 In This Weekend’s CGD Broadcast

The rivalry between Michigan State is one of the most storied in the world of college football. And this weekend, ESPN’s flagship college football broadcast will focus on that rivalry.

ESPN’s College GameDay Built by The Home Depot will come live from the campus of The University of Michigan this Saturday. The weekly broadcast will air from 9am ET to 12pm ET live on ESPN ahead of the #12 Wolverines’ matchup with the #7 Michigan State Spartans at 3:30pm ET on ESPN. Sean McDonoguh, Chris Speilman, and Todd McShay will be in the booth with the call for the game. Kirk Herbstreit will anchor Saturday’s broadcast of College GameDay Built by The Home Depot. He will be joined at the desk by analysts Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso, Desmond Howard and David Pollack. Contributors Samantha Ponder, Tom Rinaldi, George Whitfield and Gene Wojciechowski will also be on hand for additional commentary and reports.

Ahead of Saturday’s broadcast, ESPN will air College Football Live Friday afternoon at 2pm ET. Chris Ponder will anchor the broadcast. Desmond Howard and David Pollack will join Ponder at the desk for the broadcast.

ESPN Offering Extensive Coverage Of 2013 Open Championship

ESPN will broadcast all four rounds of the PGA’s annual Open Championship live next weekend, July 18^th – 21^st.  ESPN and WatchESPN will have eleven hours of live coverage beginning with the first two rounds July 18^th and 19^th.  The first two rounds will be broadcast from 4am – 3pm each day.  Saturday’s round three coverage begins at 7am EST and runs through 2:30pm EST.  Round Four cover begins at 6am EST and runs through 1:30 pm EST.

Those that can’t catch coverage when it airs live next weekend need not worry.  All four rounds will be broadcast in an encore presentation.  The live broadcast and encore presentation of The Open are just part of the sixty-five total hours that center on The Open.  Also celebrating the 142^nd renewal of one of golf’s biggest tournaments is The Best of The Open Championship.  The encore presentation of this feature has been edited for time.  It will be broadcast next Thursday – Sunday, July 18^th – 21^st.  the program will be broadcast Thursday – Saturday from 7pm – 10pm EST on ESPN.  Sunday’s broadcast will air on ESPN2 from 9pm – 12am EST.  Fans can get highlights of each day’s best moments on The Open Championship Today from 3pm – 6pm EST July 18^th and 19^th on ESPN and at the same time on ABC July 20^th and 21^st.  All broadcasts will be simulcast on ESPN Radio affiliates nationwide, online at ESPNRadio.com and on TheOpen.com.  A full rundown of coverage times and networks is available below.

SportsCenter will have its own special Open Championship coverage live from Scotland’s Muirfield Golf Links.  It will broadcast a one-hour special, SportsCenter at the Open Championship.  The special will air Wednesday, July 17^th at 2pm.  There will also be a number of live in-depth reports beginning Monday, July 15^th.

ESPN’s Mike Tirico will anchor coverage of the broadcasts for the 18^th consecutive year.  He will be joined by Scott Van Pelt of ESPN’s SVP and Rusillo.  The pair will be joined by legendary BBC golf broadcaster Peter Alliss Thursday and Friday July 18^th and 19^th.  Van Pelt will also serve as hole announcer along with reporters Curtis Strange, Dottie Pepper, and Sean McDonough.  Paul Azinger, David Duvall and Peter Alliss will all serve as analysts for the four-day tournament at different times.  Andy North, Judy Rankin, Dottie Pepper, and Bill Kratzert will be on-course reporters.

During coverage of the annual Open Championship, ESPN will use two technologies to help viewers follow every shot throughout the hole.  The first of the technologies, “Virutal Aerial”, examines wind condition throughout the course and its impact on each hole.  The tech debuted at the 2012 Open Championship.  The second of the tech used to bring viewers into the Open is known as “Flight Tracker.”  This real-time feature will be used on six of the match’s holes.  It will create a virtual line allowing viewers to follow the ball from tee to hole on each of the six holes chosen to feature this tech.

Along with all of the in-depth coverage provided by ESPN, ESPN Radio, WatchESPN, and ABC, ESPN Classic will have fifty-five hours of special golf programming in a tribute to The Open in the days leading up to the famed tournament.  It all begins next Monday, July 15^th at 11am EST with a broadcast of highlights from the 1978 Open Championship.  That year’s tournament was won by golf legend Jack Nicklaus.  The programming will run straight through 4am on Thursday, July 18^th, when ESPN’s coverage of The Open Championship begins.  The new edition of ESPN The Magazine hits newsstands tomorrow, July 12^th.  It will have a preview of next week’s match.  In the meantime, a complete broadcast schedule of next week’s Open Championship is available below.
