The Hu Debuts New Single, ‘This Is Mongol,’ Companion Video; Black Thunder Tour Continues

Courtesy: Better Noise Records

The Hu will release its sophomore album this year, and in anticipation of its release, the band unveiled the as-yet untitled album’s lead single and video this week.

The band premiered its new single, ‘This Is Mongol‘ and its video Friday. The song’s musical arrangement is another familiar style composition from the band, complete with Mongolian instruments and in turn, instrumentation. It blends that with a rich blues-infused heavy rock western influence for an overall presentation that is infectious throughout its four minute run time.

Information provided in a press release about the new single states the song’s lyrical content delivers a message promoting Mongolian culture, which also includes natural preservation and spiritual connection with the Earth.

Front man Galbadrakh “Gala” Tsendbaatar talked about the song’s video in a prepared statement.

“We shot in the Mojave Desert, Nevada and the environment reminded us of Gobi Desert in Mongolia, Tsendbaatar said. “We enjoyed shooting the video, which happened during our tour and gave us a little break to reminisce about home. The song perfectly matched the environment we made the video in. It was one of the best memories we created as a band and it was special because our producer Dashka was with us to oversee the whole process.”
