Independent rock band The Backfires premiered its new single this week.

The band debuted its new single, ‘Joyride‘ Monday. The musical arrangement featured in the band’s new single is a poppy, infectious arrangement whose vocals, drums, and guitar riffs immediately lend themselves collectively to comparison to songs from the likes of The Killers, The Hives, and American Hi-Fi.

No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the news release announcing the single’s release. Lyrics were not provided with the song, either. From what can be deciphered sans lyrics and explanation, the song seems to center on someone who has met a potential romantic interest and wants to know if the possibility of something serious exists or if the situation would be just a one night stand.

Independent singer-songwriter Ivory Blue premiered the video for her latest single this month.

Ivory Blue debuted the video for her single, ‘Family Tables’ Aug. 21. Audiences can stream and download the single starting Sept. 7. The song is featured in Ivory Blue’s forthcoming debut album, Compound Love later this year and its follow-up, the EP, Red Light. The EP is scheduled for release in 2022 with an exact release date under consideration.

The musical arrangement featured in ‘Family Tables’ is a mid-tempo pop rock style composition. Its catchy hooks and choruses and general approach make it comparable to works from the likes of The Killers, U2, and Concrete Blonde.

According to a statement from Ivory Blue, the lyrical theme that accompanies the song’s musical arrangement focuses on personal relationships in a specific fashion.

“What is it like if people give you the chance to shine?,” she asked.  “Sometimes we are underestimated and treated unfairly, but the people that give us the chance, will have the opportunity to see how far we can really fly!”

The video for ‘Family Tables’ features Ivory Blue sitting at a table with what is meant to be a family as the song plays over the visualization. There is some tension among those sitting at the table as she sits at the head, having to deal with it all.

Independent music collective Eddie and the Getaway debuted its new single Friday, along with the song’s video.

The band kicked off the weekend by debuting its new single, ‘Silver Lining‘ and its companion video. The song was co-produced and co-written by ex-Cage The Elephants member Lincoln Parish.

Front man and band namesake Eddie Eberle discussed working with Parish on the song during a recent interview.

“‘Silver Lining’ is about seeing through the tough times to find the good in them,”  said Eberle. “I co-wrote and co-produced it with Lincoln Parish of Cage The Elephant after a conversation about how we have all gone through our own highs and lows when it comes to love and happiness. And as a new artist, I want my music to be a breath of fresh air and uplifting for the world.”

The musical arrangement featured in the song harkens back to the pop-rock sounds of the 90s and 2000s with its light guitar line and vocal harmonies. It lends itself to comparisons to works from the likes of Goo Goo Dolls, and The Killers.

The video for ‘Silver Lining’ blends footage of the band performing in what is meant to reflect a variety of live settings with a visual telling of a story about a happy young couple out and about.

“This video took on an entirely new life as I was editing it in quarantine,” he said.  As you’ll clearly see when you watch, we put a lot of time and effort into all the details…It was almost eerie how much of it reflected what was coming just weeks after filming.”

The song is just the latest from Don’t Believe in Ghosts.  The band debuted it single ‘The Chase’ in May 2019.  Its companion video debuted a month later.  That single and video were preceded by the debut of the band’s single ‘Don’t Wake Me Up’ in February 2019 and its companion video the following month.
