Independent singer-songwriter Ivory Blue premiered the video for her latest single this month.

Ivory Blue debuted the video for her single, ‘Family Tables’ Aug. 21. Audiences can stream and download the single starting Sept. 7. The song is featured in Ivory Blue’s forthcoming debut album, Compound Love later this year and its follow-up, the EP, Red Light. The EP is scheduled for release in 2022 with an exact release date under consideration.

The musical arrangement featured in ‘Family Tables’ is a mid-tempo pop rock style composition. Its catchy hooks and choruses and general approach make it comparable to works from the likes of The Killers, U2, and Concrete Blonde.

According to a statement from Ivory Blue, the lyrical theme that accompanies the song’s musical arrangement focuses on personal relationships in a specific fashion.

“What is it like if people give you the chance to shine?,” she asked.  “Sometimes we are underestimated and treated unfairly, but the people that give us the chance, will have the opportunity to see how far we can really fly!”

The video for ‘Family Tables’ features Ivory Blue sitting at a table with what is meant to be a family as the song plays over the visualization. There is some tension among those sitting at the table as she sits at the head, having to deal with it all.

Courtesy: Earshot Media

Independent music collective Eddie and the Getaway debuted its new single Friday, along with the song’s video.

The band kicked off the weekend by debuting its new single, ‘Silver Lining‘ and its companion video. The song was co-produced and co-written by ex-Cage The Elephants member Lincoln Parish.

Front man and band namesake Eddie Eberle discussed working with Parish on the song during a recent interview.

“‘Silver Lining’ is about seeing through the tough times to find the good in them,”  said Eberle. “I co-wrote and co-produced it with Lincoln Parish of Cage The Elephant after a conversation about how we have all gone through our own highs and lows when it comes to love and happiness. And as a new artist, I want my music to be a breath of fresh air and uplifting for the world.”

The musical arrangement featured in the song harkens back to the pop-rock sounds of the 90s and 2000s with its light guitar line and vocal harmonies. It lends itself to comparisons to works from the likes of Goo Goo Dolls, and The Killers.

The video for ‘Silver Lining’ blends footage of the band performing in what is meant to reflect a variety of live settings with a visual telling of a story about a happy young couple out and about.

Don’t Believe In Ghosts Debuts ‘Living Like This’ Video

Courtesy: Forward Thinking

Indie-rock band Don’t Believe in Ghosts debuted the video for its latest single this week.

The band debuted the video for its new single ‘Living Like This.’  The band debuted the single by itself Feb. 21.  The features the band members sitting together in a room, their heads replaced by some old school television monitors.  Their heads show up in the monitors.

The song’s musical arrangement presents a sound that lends itself to comparisons to works from acts, such as Fitz & The Tantrums, The Killers and The Hives.  The lyrical content featured throughout the song comes across as a commentary of sorts about the current state of the world, from people’s consumerist nature to the division caused by the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and more.

Front man Stephen Nathan talked about the video’s creation in a recent interview.

“This video took on an entirely new life as I was editing it in quarantine,” he said.  As you’ll clearly see when you watch, we put a lot of time and effort into all the details…It was almost eerie how much of it reflected what was coming just weeks after filming.”

‘Living Like This’ is available to stream and download through Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon and Google Play.

The song is just the latest from Don’t Believe in Ghosts.  The band debuted it single ‘The Chase’ in May 2019.  Its companion video debuted a month later.  That single and video were preceded by the debut of the band’s single ‘Don’t Wake Me Up’ in February 2019 and its companion video the following month.

Black Taxi’s New LP Good For Fans Of 80’s Music

Courtesy: Black Taxi

New York based Black Taxi has been making a lot of noise in the underground scene for a number of years.  The band has earned a “Webby” award for the video for the song, ‘Shoeshine’ off of its 2009 album, “Things of That Nature.”  The band started off 2012 in positive style, too.  The band debuted the first single from its newest album, “We Don’t Know Any Better” on AOL.  The band’s new album is good fodder for anyone that is a fan of old school 80’s acts the likes of The Talking Heads and Men at Work or for more modern acts such as Cake or The Killers.  There’s even a semi Pink Floyd style piece and some Franz Ferdinand influenced music on this disc, too.

Speaking of ‘Hand’, this is one of the album’s highlights.  It’s an interesting hybrid of that old school 80’s sound mixed with a newer version of said old school style.  ‘Do What You Gotta Do’ boasts some of that same style.  The mix of the synthesizer with the guitars in this song give it a really catchy almost Cake-style sound.  There’s some of that also in the album’s title track.  Fans of Franz Ferdinand will also enjoy this record thanks to its sound.  Black taxi sort of emulates Franz Ferdinand in the catchy ‘Balloon on a Barbed Wire.’  The solid drum beats mixed with the guitar work make it an instant hit for audiences.  Fans of prog-rock masters Pink Floyd will be intrigued by the change of pace when the band moves into the more melancholy drone of ‘Holding On To Nothing.’  Thankfully, that doesn’t last long as the band kicks things back into gear right afterwards with the more catchy ‘Politics.’  The band keeps the energy up right to the album’s end from here with the blatantly 80’s style of ‘Tell Me What You Need’ and the almost hippie-esque vibe of ‘Hope I Never Know.’

While “We Don’t Know Any Better” was released back in January, the band is currently touring in support of it.  The band will be in Charlottesville, VA tonight.  Tonight’s show is followed by a pair of dates in Georgia tomorrow and Wednesday and a stop in South Carolina Thursday evening.  The band will close out the work week with a trio of dates in Florida this weekend.  Fans can go online to http://www.blacktaxi.com or http://www.facebook.com/BLACKTAXIMUSIC for a full tour run down, and to get all the latest news from the band.
