Independent rock band The Midnight Preachers debuted its latest single and the song’s video this week.

The band kicked off the weekend by premiering its new song, ‘Summertime‘ and its companion video Friday. Produced by band member Eogan McSheain and mastered by Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (Sons of Apollo, Guns N’ Roses), the song opens with a guitar riff that while not exactly the same, very closely mirrors that of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ song ‘Under The Bridge.’ That riff continues through the song alongside the gentle vocal delivery of bassist/vocalist Emer McLaughlin and steady time keeping of drummer Colin Kenny to make the song a catchy pop rock composition.

No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the press release announcing the premiere of the single and its video. In listening to the song however, it is clear that this song centers on the all too familiar topic of a romantic relationship.

The video for ‘Summertime’ is a black and white presentation that features the band in what is meant to mirror a live setting. The black and white effect is used to heighten audiences’ engagement and entertainment.

‘Summertime’ is just the latest of The Midnight Preachers’ songs. The band has already released the songs, ‘Pusher Woman,’ ‘Mexico,’ ‘Holding On,’ and ‘California.’

The Midnight Preachers Debuts ‘Mexico’ Video

Independent rock band The Midnight Preachers debuted the video for its latest single this week.

The duo — Eoghan McSheain and Emer McLaughlin — debuted the video for its new single ‘Mexico‘ Tuesday. The premiere of the video and its single follows that of the band’s singles and videos for ‘Pusher Woman,’ ‘Holding On,’ and ‘California.’

Famed guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (Sons of Apollo, Guns N’ Roses) mastered ‘Holding On’ and ‘California.’ He also played a direct part in the creation of ‘Mexico,’ mixing and mastering the composition.

The video for ‘Mexico’ features imagery, such as a person at a desk, writing out the song’s lyrics; a glass being filled with an undisclosed alcoholic drink, and some very psychedelic imagery as the song plays over it all. The musical arrangement that accompanies the song’s video presents a unique sound that will appeal to classic rock aficionados. Its controlled nature makes for even more appeal for the noted audiences.

The lyrical content that accompanies the song’s musical arrangement is centered on the topic of taking stock of one’s life and making important decisions after doing so, according to McSheain.

“Mexico is a song about doing what you need to do in life and making bold decisions to separate yourself from the pack. It’s also about looking inward and bringing some of those demons out,” said McSheain.

‘Mexico’ is available to stream and download here.

The Midnight Preachers Debuts ‘Pusher Woman’ Lyric Video

Independent rock band The Midnight Preachers debuted the video for its latest single this week.

The band debuted the lyric video for its new single ‘Pusher Woman‘ Friday.  The video features the song’s lyrics set alongside a series of images, such as a woman’s eye, her lips and legs.  The imagery is used to help illustrate the song’s lyrical theme, which seems to be about a woman to whom the song’s subject is…well…addicted, thus the title ‘Pusher Woman.’

The song’s video was animated by The Midnight Preachers vocalist Emer McLaughlin.  The song was written by McLaughlin and her band mate Eoghan McSheain.  John Henry produced the southern rock style arrangement while Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (Sons of Apollo, Guns N’ Roses, Asia) mixed and mastered the song.

Thal also produced The Midnight Preachers’ most recent single, ‘Holding On‘ and its predecessor, ‘California.’
