The Nomadic Debuts ‘Grand Mistakes’ Video

Alt-rock act The Nomadic debuted the video for its latest single this week.

The act, founded by Robert Gaylard, debuted the video for its latest single, ‘Grand Mistakes‘ Friday. The video’s premiere comes more than a month after Gaylard premiered the single by itself.

The video features Gaylard performing his new single in a studio with accompaniment by an uncredited female vocalist. Meanwhile, footage of people joined together in various situations is presented as the song plays over the compilation.

The visualization is meant to help illustrate the message in the song’s lyrical theme, which Gaylard discussed upon the single’s debut.

“It is really a song that captures the essence of the fact that we learn and grow from our greatest mistakes, and also, if we choose to, we can stop family trauma and repeat mistakes from continuing in a vicious cycle,” he said.

Added Gaylard, “This is a song that addresses the theme of conflict, reconciliation and learning from mistakes. for most of my professional life, I have worked in situations of conflict, including Somalia, Sudan, Afghanistan, Indonesia, and Israel and Palestine. I have often paused to reflect on the damage such conflict does, not only on those who directly participate, but the trauma that gets passed on, to families from generation to generation. That is, more or less, the theme of Grand Mistakes!”

The song’s musical arrangement is a gentle, flowing composition that is grounded in its piano line. Gaylard’s vocals and performance on guitar build on the appeal generated through that piano line. The whole lends itself to comparison to works from the likes of Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan.

The Nomadic Debuts New Single, ‘Grand Mistakes’

Alt-rock act The Nomadic took on the role that mistakes play in our lives in its latest single this week.

The act, founded by Robert Gaylard, debuted the single, ‘Grand Mistakes‘ Friday. The premiere of the song by itself more than four months after Gaylard debuted the song’s video. The song’s musical arrangement is a gentle, flowing composition that is grounded in its piano line. Gaylard’s vocals and performance on guitar build on the appeal generated through that piano line. The whole lends itself to comparison to works from the likes of Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan.

Gaylard talked about the song’s musical arrangement in a prepared statement.

“‘Grand Mistakes’ is, along with ‘Under a Georgia Sky,’ one of the first songs I wrote on piano,” said Gaylard. “I am excited to see what Nomadic fans think of it! It is probably a little different to the singles we have put out so far. And I hope it moves and inspires people in different ways.”

Gaylard also talked about the message in the song’s lyrical theme in the statement.

The Nomadic Debuts New Single, ‘Under A Georgia Sky,’ Companion Video

Courtesy: O’Donnell Media Group

Alt-rock act The Nomadic unveiled its latest single and video this month.

The act, founded by Robert Gaylard, premiered the new single, ‘Under A Georgia Sky‘ and its video June 4. The single is the act’s first new music since the release of its single, ‘Jeannie‘ in January.

The musical arrangement featured in the new single is a gentle, flowing composition. It features Gaylard alongside a piano and some vocal layering and choral elements for the whole. The collective sound and stylistic approach makes the song comparable to music from acts, such as Train, Five For Fighting, and other similar acts.

The lyrical theme featured alongside the song’s musical arrangement is meant to address the impact that people have on our lives, no matter how long we are connected to those individuals.

Gaylard addressed that topic in a prepared statement.

“‘Under A Georgia Sky’ is a song that pays tribue to the various amazing people we meet in our lives, who come into our orbits to teach us things about ourselves and help us grow,” he said. “It is a song that tries to capture and evoke the reminiscence and nostalgia of a beautiful relationship and/or friendship, that may not work out at the time for various reasons, but with the passing of time can be rekindled and rebuilt Under A Georgia Sky.”

The video for ‘Under A Georgia Sky’ combines footage of Gaylard performing the single and that of items, such as fireworks, a woman looking longingly ou a window — clearly contemplaing deep thoughts — and the sun rising over a bay. The visuals are meant to help evoke the thoughts explained by Gaylard while also evoking the positive emotions means to be delivered through those thoughts.

The Nomadic Debuts New Single, ‘Skaterpark’

Courtesy: O’Donnell Media Group

Alt-rock act The Nomadic debuted its new single this week.

The act, founded by Robert Gaylard, debuted the single ‘Skaterpark‘ Friday. The song is the latest single from the act’s forthcoming album Beyond Blue. The album, who release date is under consideration, has also produced the singles, ‘Manhattan View,’ ‘Beyond Blue,’ ‘Waiting,’ and ‘Drifting.’

Gaylard talked about the creation of ‘Skaterpark’ during a recent interview.

“It’s a little different from the songs we have released so far!,” he said. “For a start, it is co-written by my brilliant Nephew Guy Stonor, who at 17 years old is already an incredibly talented bass player, song writer, and producer! We were rooming together on a family holiday in Australia in Dec 2018, and he turned to me and said “Hey Rob, let’s write a song!”; at first I was a little doubtful, skeptical even, because I have always written my own songs! However very quickly I realized we would work very easily together! Guy is such a natural- kids these days!! He was like “let’s try this lyric? Why don’t you come in a little earlier on the vocals there? Etc etc. a born producer/ songwriter I would say!”

Gaylard added that his nephew is just one of his talented family members.

“There really is so much talent in that family!,’ said Gaylard. “I keep telling them they should be forming a band! My brother in law Pete is a great lead guitarist, my sister Pep is extremely creative, younger nephew Alex is brilliant at anything he turns his hand to (including being an amazing soccer player!) and niece Libby at 11 years old is already writing and producing her own songs! The dog Cookie might need a bit of musical training, but she’s also very enthusiastic!! I can’t wait to get them all over to NY post COVID-19 to work on some new material!”

The musical arrangement featured in ‘Skatepark’ is a light, guitar-driven work. Its airy guitar line pairs with Gaylard’s vocals to generate a sound and stylistic approach that lends the work — albeit slightly — to comparison to works from Tom Petty. At the same time, listeners can also make a comparison to works from the likes of Gin Blossoms.

The song’s lyrical theme is meant to deliver a positive message, according to Gaylard.

“For the story behind the song- I would encourage all listeners to think back to childhood, adolescence and/or early adulthood!,” he said. “Can you think back to your earliest, best friend? Perhaps reminisce on the times you spent together, the fun you had, the memories you shared! Are you still in contact today? if not, would you consider reaching out to see how they are doing?!”

Courtesy: ENCI Records

Independent music act The Workday Release unveiled the lead single from its forthcoming debut album this week, along with its companion lyric video.

The act, the brainchild of singer-songwriter David Ottestad, debuted the song ‘Say A Lot With Light‘ Friday along with its companion lyric video. The song and its video are the first from Oddestad’s forthcoming album Like the Light of Stars, which is scheduled for release April 16 through ENCI Records.

The track listing for Like the Light of Stars is noted below.

‘Like The Light Of Stars’ Track Listing:

1. Say A Lot With Light

2. You

3. I Do

4. The Future

5. Hospital Grounds

6. Going Up In Flames

7. Every Voice I Hear Is Mine

8. Sunlight

9. Keep Out The Wolves

10. Circles

11. Six Feet From Defeat

The ‘Say A Lot With Light’ lyric video places the song’s lyrics in a cursive font against an image of Ottestad sitting in front of piano as the song plays. The song’s musical arrangement is a gentle, flowing work. Ottestad’s light vocals pair with the song’s piano line and equally light percussion to make it comparable to works from the likes of The Nomadic, Owl City, and Five for Fighting to a lesser degree.

According to a statement from Oddestad, the song’s lyrical theme touches on the a familiar topic.

“Lyrically, it’s a love song about not settling for someone just because it’s convenient or less scary than being alone,” he said. “The chorus of the song says, “I’ve been waiting on someone who’s truly one million to one so I can say it, and say a lot with light.” I really liked the lyrical concept of speaking with light. To me, it represents this feeling of peace that comes with being with the right person.”

The Nomadic Debuts New Single, ‘Jeannie’

Alt-rock act The Nomadic debuted its new single this week.

The act, founded by Robert Gaylard, debuted the single ‘Jeannie‘ Friday. The song is the act’s sixth single, following the release of the songs ‘Walk The Streets,’ ‘Manhattan View,’ ‘Drifting,’ ‘Waiting,’ and ‘Beyond Blue.’

The three-minute, 37-second composition presents a light arrangement whose guitars, vocals and piano conjure thoughts of compositions that Beatles legend Paul McCartney has crafted during the course of his solo career. The lyrical content featured with the song’s musical arrangement comes from a personal story from Gaylard’s family.

Garylard discussed the story in question in a prepared statement.

“Jeannie was my grandmother, she was the youngest daughter in her family in Wagga Wagga, country Australia, growing up in the early 20th century!,” he said. “Australia was a very different country then, still growing and developing, and finding its feet as a nation. Conditions were not easy and everyone in the family had to contribute to the family. Jeannie was a very strong and stoic woman who served in the Medical Women’s Service in the Pacific during the Second World War. For 4 years she was apart from her fiancé Guy, who during that time was a POW. So she had no idea as to his whereabouts and how he was doing. I think a lot about their strength and example today, and how resilient and strong they were.”

“She was a wonderful nurse, and a loving and caring grandmother, a friend who supported the community and family through good times and bad,” he added. “She was always there with a kind and wise word, and sometimes an extraordinary sense of the future. She taught us to appreciate the beauty in nature, a starry sky or a robin in the garden and was always encouraging and inspiring. She loved music and was a fan of Elvis, Pavarotti, The Beatles and The Nomadic!!”

The Nomadic Debuts New Single, ‘Walk The Streets’

Alt-rock act The Nomadic debuted its new single this week.

The act, founded by Robert Gaylard, debuted the single ‘Walk The Streets‘ Friday. The single’s debut comes a week after the video for its then latest single ‘Manhattan View‘ debuted. Along with that song, ‘Drifting,’ ‘Waiting‘ and ‘Beyond Blue,’ the song is now the act’s fifth single.

The musical arrangement featured in ‘Walk The Streets’ features a sort of alt-country approach and sound at its base. That aspect is coupled with a bit of the act’s familiar pop sound for a whole that will appeal to a wide range of listeners.

The lyrical content that accompanies the song’s musical arrangement focuses on a familiar topic, according to Gaylard.

“Walk the Streets was one of the first songs I ever wrote and is one of my favorites!,” he said. “It’s about reconciliation with a long lost friend or lover, about coming back together, even as friends, after a period of emotional turbulence.”

“Inspired by a period of separation from a lover, the sentiment behind the song is “whatever you go through, whatever happens to us, I will always be there for you, will always have the time to set aside my life plans for a day, to walk the streets with you, in one of the great cities of the world,” added Gaylard. “Even when you say you don’t need me!!: “through winter’s days, and summers rays, through daybreak’s dawn, through winter’s yawn..and you know.. that I will walk the streets with you.” Originally written as a sad, meloncholic ballad, here we have musically given it an up tempo, alt country vibe, to contrast the sad sentiment with the upbeat character of the musical arrangement. I hope our fans will dig it!”

The Nomadic Pays Tribute To New York With Its Latest Single

Courtesy: O’Donnell Media Group

The Nomadic debuted its latest single this week.

The group, founded by Robert Gaylard, debuted its new single ‘Manhattan View‘ Friday.  The song is the act’s fourth single.  It follows the release of the songs ‘Drifting,’ ‘Waiting‘ and most recently, ‘Beyond Blue.’

The musical arrangement at the center of ‘Manhattan View’ is a light, airy work founded in its piano line.  Separate, subtle guitar and bass lines (and apparent harp, too) join with Gaylard’s equally gentle vocal delivery to make the song appealing to fans of acts, such as Train, Peter Cincotti, and Jamie Cullum.

The song’s lyrical theme will leave listeners with a positive feeling, too, according to Gaylard.

“The song is my ode to New York, a city that has become like a second home to me, where there is something magical in the air, something so amazingly creative that you feel like absolutely anything is possible!,” he said.

‘Manhattan View’ is just the latest single that Gaylard had plans to release. He also has plans to release the singles, ‘Walk The Streets,’ ‘Grand Mistakes’ and ‘Under a Georgia Sky’ as the year progresses.

The Nomadic Debuts ‘Beyond Blue’ Video

Single Art By: Steven Nathan

Alt-pop rock act The Nomadic debuted the video for its latest single over the weekend.

The act, founded and fronted by Robert Gaylard, debuted the video for its new single ‘Beyond Blue‘ Saturday.  The video’s debut comes less than two weeks after the song debuted by itself.

The video features Gaylard performing in what is meant to look like a rooftop setting as a woman makes her way through the city below to her job, as a cashier at a grocery store.  Gaylard’s character eventually makes his way to where the woman is working.  All around her, everything is blue, but around him, the wold is full of color.  When Garylard’s character comes up to the woman’s register, that blue is replaced by the color that surrounds him, and she smiles for the first time.

The video’s treatment serves to help translate the message in the song’s lyrical theme, which Gaylard discussed in an interview following the song’s debut.

“Beyond Blue” is about being there for someone – a friend, a lover, a family member, going through a tough time mentally, be it sadness, isolation, depression, PTSD; it is about letting them know that ‘this too shall pass’ and there is always a space to talk, and that someone has been through what you are going through now, that there is ‘nothing new under the sun,” he said.  “That with the help of friends and family, the moment will surely pass, and you will be taken “Beyond Blue.” We hope fans of The Nomadic will love the song!”

The musical arrangement at the center of ‘Beyond Blue’ is a work that will appeal to fans of similar acts, such as Train, John Mayer and Five For Fighting.  It is grounded in Gaylard’s vocal delivery, its steady timekeeping and its equally subtle organ line.  The gentle nature in the song’s arrangement serves to help translate the emotion exhibited in the song’s lyrical theme.

‘Beyond Blue’ is available to stream and download here.

According to information provided about the single’s debut, Gaylard also has plans to release the singles, ‘Manhattan View,’ Walk The Streets,’ ‘Grand Mistakes’ and ‘Under a Georgia Sky’ as the year progresses.
