The Winery Dogs Debuts New Single’s Video; Announce New Live Dates

Rock super group The Winery Dogs continued the buildup for its upcoming third album, III, this weekend with the debut of a new video and announcement of a new tour.

The band premiered the video for its new single, ‘Mad World’ Friday. The premiere came a month after the band debuted the video for III‘s debut single, ‘Xanadu.’ Where ‘Xanadu’ immediately conjures thoughts of classic Rush in its opening bars before launching into more of a sound and style that blends modern and vintage rock, ‘Mad World’ is more of a pure neo-classic rock style composition.

Front man Richie Kotzen’s Chris Cornell-esque vocals are just as clear and strong here as ever while bassist Billy Sheehan’s work on bass and equally famed drummer Mike Portnoy’s work on the kit continue to put their talents on full display once again.

In regards to its lyrical theme, Kotzen said during a recent interview, the song is a social commentary of sorts.

“The song is dealing with a certain attitude or way of thinking forced on individuals regardless of your own life experience or unique individuality,” Kotzen said. “I remember a time where opposing opinions and viewpoints were more accepted. A good old healthy debate was a great thing back then.

He added, “This song is really shining a light on how there may be certain consequences to pay if you don’t think a certain way. It’s also reflected in the lyric, ‘You’d better bite your tongue so you sound the same.’ It also offers a glimmer of hope in its chorus with the line ‘Turn from a scar into a pearl.’ So it’s not all doom and gloom. There’s always a chance to turn things around.”

In other news, The Winery Dogs are set to launch a tour in support of III Feb. 15 in Greensburg, PA. The tour is set to run through Apr. 6 in Nashville, TN. Following the conclusion of the North American leg of the tour, the band will perform at a trio of festival shows in South America April 27 28, and 29.

A European tour will follow the South American festival shows starting June 6 in Hamburg, Germany. The European leg of the band’s tour is scheduled to run through June 27 in La Rochelle, France.

The Guitar & Whiskey Club Announces Debut EP Release Date

Independent rock band The Guitar & Whiskey Club will release its debut EP this fall.

The band is scheduled to release the record Nov. 7 through The Orchard/Sony Music. The band has been working on the EP since 2019. From beginning to end, the EP features elements of southern rock, “sleaze rock” and even a touch of 80s rock, according to information provided about the EP.

The record’s lyrical themes vary just as much, focusing on life on the road (touring), the impact of the decisions we make in life, and the all too familiar topic of a broken relationship.

Founding member/guitarist Jeffrey Donovan talked about the record’s creation amid the pandemic during a recent interview.

“The pandemic was hell,” Donovan said. “Gigs were cancelled, studios closed, everyone was locked in their houses. Some of the members suffered from what I call ‘pandecitis’, a lack of inspiration and the will to continue.”

The Black Moods Debuts New Single, ‘She Gets Out,’ Companion Video

The Black Moods gave audiences their first preview of its next album over the weekend.

The band premiered its new single, ‘She Gets Out‘ and its companion video Friday. The song and its video are the first from the band’s forthcoming album, whose title and other information is still under wraps.

The musical arrangement is a catchy pop rock style composition. It fits well into any modern rock and even adult contemporary radio programmer’s play list with its light approach and harmonies.

Front man Josh Kennedy discussed the song’s lyrical theme in a prepared statement.

“‘She Gets Out,’ our newest song, is meant to be a continuation of the character from our last record Sunshine,” said Kennedy. “In its title track, ‘Sunshine,’ she’s someone that’s struggling to deal with finding a way to change her life. With ‘She Gets Out,” she makes the decision to take a stand and make her life her own, no matter how scary or what the consequences might be.”

The video is a familiar style presentation. It features footage of the band performing live along with footage of the Hollywood hills and other visuals as the song plays over the visualization.

Dee Snider Band Members Form New Band; Premiere New Single, Video

Independent rock band Bomber Alley premiered its debut single and video last month.

The band, which was formed by drummer Talon Blaque, premiered its debut single, ‘We Get By‘ and its companion lyric video Aug. 21. The single released through Mindsnap Music (on behalf of Von Artists, LTD.).

The musical arrangement featured in in ‘We Get By’ is a pure, guitar-driven work that throws back to the sounds made so famous by the likes of Guns ‘N Roses, Motley Crue, and Dee Snider.

The press release announcing the premiere of Bomber Alley’s new single and lyric video provided no information about the song’s lyrical theme. However the lyrics presented in the lyric video point toward a theme of determination and getting past the things that we use to hold ourselves back. That is just this critic’s own interpretation and should not be taken as the only interpretation.

Speaking of the song’s lyric video, the video features the song’s lyrics over a variety of images, such as a guitar, a skull with a bullet in its mouth (taking the phrase “bite the bullet” literally) and other imagery.

In other news, the noted press release announced Bomber Alley is planning the release of its debut EP in 2022 through Mindsnap Music via Von Artist/The Orchard/Sony.. Its track listing and exact release date are under consideration.

Ricky Byrd Announces New Distribution Deal; Debuts New Single

Ricky Byrd’s latest album is getting renewed attention months after its release.

Sobering Times was released in 2020 as a limited release, but thanks to a deal between The Orchard and BFD, the record — his third — the record will now be distributed globally to retail outlets and digital retailers.

Byrd spoke positively of the new deal in a prepared statement.

“With music and lyrics we press on and pass it on….that being said, BFD is the perfect company to help spread this rock’n’roll recovery message to the masses,” said Byrd. “This partnership marks the next chapter of Sobering Times.”

BFD CEO Bob Frank expanded on Byrd’s comments.

“We are thrilled to release this great new album from Ricky and the BFD team is proud to partner with him,” said Frank.

In related news, Byrd celebrated the new deal by debuting a new single from Sobering Times, in the form of the song ‘Together.’ Steven Van Zant added the song to his ever-growing “The Coolest Song on Earth” list in December on his Sirius XM Radio show, “Little Steven’s Underground Garage.

Blackmore’s Night Debuts New Single, ‘Four Winds’

Blackmore’s Night unveiled another single from its forthcoming weekend this week.

The band debuted its new single ‘Four Winds‘ Friday. The song is the second single from the band’s forthcoming album Nature’s Light, which is scheduled for release March 12 through earMusic (distributed by BFD/The Orchard). It follows the debut of the album’s lead single, ‘Once Upon December‘ last month. The band has scheduled the debut of the ‘Four Winds’ lyric video for Jan. 29.

The band’s new single boasts in its musical arrangement, its familiar Renaissance syle approach, complete with lute and guitar. The addition of the operatic style vocals from Candice Night and drums give the song a more modern sound at the same time. The balance of the elements makes the arrangement in whole its own unique presentation from the band.

Night discussed the lyrical content featured in the new single in a prepared statement.

“‘Four Winds’ is the story of two girls, actually inspired by two of my oldest friendships”, said Night. “One who left Long Island and moved to California and one who left to move to Virginia. Going to across the country to California and living on the water was where the first girl felt the call to her soul, being able to watch the dolphins in the water and living the life by the ocean, while the other one took a very different path and felt the call to the woods inspired by wolves and other woodland creatures.”

“They both have equal importance in this storyline and are ultimately a part of me and perhaps of everyone, being pulled away from the stress of their current surroundings and looking for escape,” added Night. “If you feel stagnant or repressed in your surroundings, it’s important to take a break from the mundane and go where your heart leads you. It allows you to recharge and begin again with fresh and renewed energy. For some it is the ocean, for some the woods, for some feeling the sun on your face, others need to immerse in moonlight. Ultimately, we are all a part of the same story, the same picture and as the song says, “we’re all part of the trees and part of the seas and ready to start again…”.

Pre-orders are open for Nature’s Light.

The album will release on CD, digital, 180-gram gatefold vinyl, limited edition heavyweight yellow vinyl gatefold and limited edition 2CD hardcover mediabook The second disc featured in the limited edition release will contain a variety of songs from the band’s catalog.

Dee Snider, Lizzy Hale Partner For Hard Rock Holiday Tune

Dee Snider has partnered with Lizzy Hale for a new version of Snider’s holiday song, ‘The Magic of Christmas Day.’

The song is scheduled for release Nov. 13 through BFD/The Orchard. Pre-saves are open.

Snider offered some history behind his song during a recent interview.

“Originally written and recorded as a Christmas gift for my wife Suzette with no plan for commercial release, years later ‘The Magic of Christmas Day (God Bless Us Everyone)’ was discovered and recorded by Celine Dion for her holiday record These Are Special Times, which went on to become the biggest selling holiday album in history — and is the reason we refer to her as ‘Saint Celine’ in my house,” he said. “When it was recently suggested that I should finally record this song myself, I knew I needed to bring in a young powerhouse vocalist to not only duet with me, but light a Yuletide fire under my ass! I only knew of one rock vocalist who could deliver on all those fronts, and she did in spades: the incredible Lzzy Hale of Halestorm!”

Hale offered her own comments, expanding on Snider’s statements.

“If you’re ever in your life gonna go full on, all gas, no brakes ‘Christmas Cheer,’ you do it Dee Snider-style. I was so honored to get the call from Dee on his holiday classic ‘The Magic of Christmas Day.’ After exchanging a few very affectionate ‘f@&k yous’ as we rediscovered our respect and admiration for each other’s talent, the final recording produced by the legendary Jeff Pilson is insanely epic. Wyldlife Debuts ‘Kiss And Tell’ Video

Wyldlyfe debuted another single from its new album Year of the Snake over the weekend.

The band debuted the video for its single ‘Kiss and Tell‘ Friday. The band debuted the song, the album’s second single, by itself early last month. Its debut was followed late last month with the debut album’s third single, ‘Automatic.’

The band debuted Year of the Snake‘s lead single ‘Neon Nightmare‘ Oct. 10.

Front man Dave Feldman talked about the lyrical theme of ‘Kiss and tell’ in a recent interview.

“After listening to ‘Definitely Maybe’ more times than we can count, [guitarist] Sam [Allen] an I wanted to make a song that was tough and angry, but still confident and cool,” he said. “The lyric, ‘I’d rather be ignored than adored’ was another riff on another favorite Macnhester band, The Stone Roses. Obviously, we as a band want to be celebrated and have an impact on people’s lives, but most times, I just want to be left the f*** alone. Wyldlife tends to have a larger than life personality, but most people don’t actually know anything about us. I’ve said “Good to see you” to more people I don’t know than I’m comfortable with.”

The song’s visual treatment does not seem to go along with the song’s lyrical theme, but it certainly is a unique presentation with its almost cartoonish sequences used for Feldman’s rather vivid dreams. From skateboarding across the top of the Brooklyn Bridge, to fighting in a war to skydiving to being a superhero fighting a super villain, the video offers a lot of engagement and entertainment.

Angeles Debuts ‘Rolling Like Thunder’ Video

Rock band Angeles debuted the video for its latest single this week.

The band debuted the video for its new single ‘Rolling Like Thunder‘ Monday. The song is the band’s first new music since it released is most recent album Fire It Up last year.It is also the band’s first single with the current lineup of Dale Lytle Louis Collins, Cal Shelton and Danny Basulto.

The DIY-style video features new vocalist Louis Collins performing the single while footage of the band is edited into the whole along with live footage of the band from past performances. The song’s musical arrangement is a familiar up-tempo, classic 80s, guitar-driven style work. Its lyrical content comes across as being just as familiar, hinting at going out partying and rocking.

Angeles is scheduled to open for Krokus Oct. 10 at the famed Whiskey A Go-GO in Los Angeles, LA for the last show of Krokus’ farewell tour.

Wyldlife Debuts New LP’s Third Single

Indie punk rock band Wyldlife recently unveiled the third single from its new forthcoming album Year of the Snake over the weekend.

The band debuted its new single ‘Automatic’ Friday. The catchy, upbeat composition is available to stream and download here. It was influenced by famed indie rock band The Jesus and Mary Chain, according to front man Dave Feldman.

“This song is for my friend Therese, who works for a florist and who also shares a huge love for The Jesus and Mary Chain,” he said. “I also happened to work there every Valentine’s Day for five years or so, delivering flowers. But this one is about her love life’s trials and tribulations.My close friend Sasha Cibic lent her voice on the chorus. I love them both so much.”

The debut of Wyldlife’s new single comes less than a month after the band debuted the second single from YOTS, ‘Kiss and Tell.’

Feldman talked about the song’s lyrical content in a recent interview.
