Wyldlife Debuts ‘Kiss And Tell’ Video

Wyldlyfe debuted another single from its new album Year of the Snake over the weekend.

The band debuted the video for its single ‘Kiss and Tell‘ Friday.  The band debuted the song, the album’s second single, by itself early last month.  Its debut was followed late last month with the debut album’s third single, ‘Automatic.’

The band debuted Year of the Snake‘s lead single ‘Neon Nightmare‘ Oct. 10.

Front man Dave Feldman talked about the lyrical theme of ‘Kiss and tell’ in a recent interview.

“After listening to ‘Definitely Maybe’ more times than we can count, [guitarist] Sam [Allen] an I wanted to make a song that was tough and angry, but still confident and cool,” he said.  “The lyric, ‘I’d rather be ignored than adored’ was another riff on another favorite Macnhester band, The Stone Roses.  Obviously, we as a band want to be celebrated and have an impact on people’s lives, but most times, I just want to be left the f*** alone.  Wyldlife tends to have a larger than life personality, but most people don’t actually know anything about us.  I’ve said “Good to see you” to more people I don’t know than I’m comfortable with.”

The song’s visual treatment does not seem to go along with the song’s lyrical theme, but it certainly is a unique presentation with its almost cartoonish sequences used for Feldman’s rather vivid dreams.  From skateboarding across the top of the Brooklyn Bridge, to fighting in a war to skydiving to being a superhero fighting a super villain, the video offers a lot of engagement and entertainment.

The DIY-style video features new vocalist Louis Collins performing the single while footage of the band is edited into the whole along with live footage of the band from past performances. Indie punk rock band Wyldlife recently unveiled the third single from its new forthcoming album Year of the Snake over the weekend.

The band debuted its new single ‘Automatic’ Friday. The catchy, upbeat composition is available to stream and download here.  It was influenced by famed indie rock band The Jesus and Mary Chain, according to front man Dave Feldman.

“This song is for my friend Therese, who works for a florist and who also shares a huge love for The Jesus and Mary Chain,” he said.  “I also happened to work there every Valentine’s Day for five years or so, delivering flowers. But this one is about her love life’s trials and tribulations. My close friend Sasha Cibic lent her voice on the chorus.  I love them both so much.”

The Jab Takes Listeners To The ‘Dank Mississippi’ In Its New Single

Courtesy: Medicine/The Prchard/Earshot Media

The Jab debuted the second single from its new album this week.

The band debuted the song ‘Dank Mississippi‘ Friday.  The song is featured in the band’s forthcoming album Consume.  The LP is scheduled for release Tuesday through Medicine/The Orchard.

‘Dank Mississippi’ presents a musical arrangement that will appeal to fans of the southern rock genre that is similar to the arrangement at the center of the album’s lead single ‘Riot.’  The first acts that come to mind in considering comparisons are Zakk Wylde’s very first band, Pride & Glory,’ ‘Black Stone Cherry’ and Charm City Devils, in examining the song’s arrangement.  The song is available to stream and download now through Spotify, Apple Music and The Jab’s official YouTube channel.

The song’s lyrical content comes across as possibly a commentary of sorts.  Front man Jam Alker sings in the song’s lead verse, “Tip my hand in the river/Make me quiver/Let it kiss me/On the banks of the dank Mississippi/Hold my hand till the preacher man gets me/On the banks of the dank Mississippi/Cold, dark, dank Mississippi.”  He continues in the song’s second verse, “Hold my hand in the river/Make me shiver/Then deliver me/On the banks of the dank Mississippi/Give it to me slowly/Let the holy water hit me/On the banks of the dank Mississippi.”  He adds in the song’s third verse, “Strip my bones in the river/Let me wither…/In the dank Mississippi/Carry me home/Who’s gonna carry me to the light in the dank Mississippi?”

The Jab will tour in support of Consume beginning Wednesday when it joins Crobot on the road.  The tour is scheduled to run through Feb. 29 in Baltimore, MD. It features performances in cities, such as Ft. Collins, CO; Corpus Christi, TX and Monroe, LA.  The tour’s schedule is noted below.

The Jab Debuts ‘Riot’ Video

Independent rock band The Jab will release its new album Consume in the new year. In anticipation of the album’s release, the band recently debuted the video for the album’s lead single.

The band debuted the video for the song ‘Riot‘ Dec. 19. The video crosses footage of the band performing its new single with that of a young woman realizing a certain reality before making her way to a studio where a masked figure is controlling the masses. The video closes with the young woman tearing off the figure’s mask and showing it to the world.

That imagery ties into the song’s message, which front man Jam Alker discussed in a recent interview.

“We pretend to care about the kids in sweatshops…but not as much as we love our Nikes,” he said.  “We pretend to care about people jumping off buildings in China…but not as much as we love our new iPhones.  We pretend to care about the homeless…but not as much as our next vacation.  Maybe we’re a bit too comfortable…Maybe it’s time to start a Riot?”

While the song’s lyrical content is fully defiant, the song’s musical arrangement is a surprise. It presents a distinct blues-soaked southern rock sound.  The song is streaming by itself here.

Consume is scheduled for release Feb. 4 through Medicine/The Orchard, a Sony-owned company.  More information on Consume is available online at:
