Timeless Media Group, Shout! Factory Set To Release Another Classic Gerry Anderson Series Next Month

Timeless Media Group will release a little-known piece of television history next month when it releases Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons: The Complete Series on DVD.

Timeless Media Group—in partnership with Shout! Factory—will release Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons: The Complete Series on DVD on Tuesday, February 10^th. The classic series was produced by Gerry Anderson, the same person behind the other classic marionette series Thunderbirds and Stingray. The latter of the pair is also scheduled to be released in its entirety by Timeless Media and Shout! Factory this month. All thirty-two episodes that make up Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons: The Complete Series will be spread over four discs with a total run time (TRT) of fourteen hours. Timeless Media To Release New Red Skelton Show Box Set Next Month

Timeless Media will release another piece of television history next month when it releases The Red Skelton Show: The Early Years 1951 – 1955.

Timeless Media will release The Red Skelton Show: The Early Years 1951 – 1955 on Tuesday, October 21^st on DVD.  The box set contains ninety episodes spread across eleven discs.  The release of this box set marks the first time that the episodes contained therein have been seen since their original broadcast some six decades ago.  Among the eleven DVDs is one disc that includes a number of bonus features.  Among those features is the documentary feature “America’s Clown: An Intimate Biography of Red Skelton,” behind the scenes rehearsal footage, and even a pair of bonus episodes.

Along with all of the classic episodes and bonus features, The Red Skelton Show: The Early Years 1951 – 1955 also features guest appearances from a number of the biggest stars of the day.  The list of those guest stars includes the like of: Jackie Gleason, Johnny Carson—who called Skelton “one of the great clowns of our time”—Diahann Carroll, John Wayne, Bob Hope, Peter Lorre and many others.

Timeless Media Announces Release Date For A Haunting: The Television Series

Timeless Media will release a special collection of episodes of A Haunting next month.

A Haunting: The Television Series will be released Tuesday, October 14^th on DVD.  The box set will contain all six current seasons of the series, which ran first on Discovery Channel and then on Discovery’s digital sister station Destination America.  They will be spread across nine DVDs contained in one box.  The seventh season of A Haunting premiered last month and ran its most recent episode “Devil Inside Me” on September 7^th.  Two more episodes are scheduled to air in early December.

I, Spy Full Series Re-Issue Is One Of The Year’s Best And Most Welcome Box Sets

NBC’s classic action-adventures series I, Spy is one of the greatest series in the modern history of television. Ironically enough, the series only lasted three seasons. And still it managed to earn multiple award nominations and wins over the course of its run on the Peacock Network. Now nearly five decades since it first debuted, both the series’ original audience and a whole new generation will get to see why the series earned those nominations and awards thanks to the people at Timeless Media. Timeless Media will release I, Spy: The Complete Series next Tuesday, June 24^th. Regardless of whether or not one is familiar with this short-lived series, audiences will agree in watching all three seasons of the soon-to-be-released box set, that there is so much to like about the series. One of the key positives to the show’s success is its writing. The writers crafted a series in I, Spy that is a rarity today. It’s not a serial. It’s far less graphic than the programs that currently dominate the television spectrum. And the language is far less of the level that is heard in today’s series. Just as important to note of this series is the lack of explosions and other special effects that are also so dominant in today’s series. And last but not least, the acting on the part of co-stars Bill Cosby and Robert Culp makes everything complete. The pair’s on-camera chemistry adds even more substance to every episode. Together with the aforementioned factors, it brings everything full circle in this set, making I, Spy: The Complete Series all the more valuable an addition to any viewer’s personal DVD library.

I, Spy: The Complete Series is a huge breath of fresh air for audiences. The primary reason for this is the series’ writing. In an age when it seems like so much of the broadcast spectrum is dominated by overly violent and oversexed serials that force audiences to dedicate so much time to said shows, the writers behind I, Spy crafted a series that doesn’t require such level of dedication, nor do viewers have to worry about the unnecessary levels of violence and sexuality that dominate today’s “grown-up” series. Sure there are fight scenes, action sequences, and a certain amount of sexuality. But, each of the noted factors is a product of its time. Ergo, each aspect is used tastefully. That’s especially the case in comparison to what’s on television today. The end result of such balance is a show that is front loaded with wonderful action and adventure. From facing down one of their own to hunting down a man wanted for tax evasion to tracking down a boy (played by Ron Howard) who has stolen a vital piece of a top secret device and more, every episode of this series will keep viewers engaged throughout its near hour-long run time. And considering that so many of today’s big name series seem to rely on everything that this series doesn’t use to keep viewers’ attention for that run time, it makes I, Spy all the more a breath of fresh air.

The overall writing behind I, Spy is the foundation of the success for Timeless Media’s latest classic television release. It isn’t the only factor that makes this classic yet short-lived series a must see. Just as important to the series is its overall lack of over the top special effects and explosions. The show’s writers did such an outstanding job crafting stories with real substance and class that there was no need for the over-the-top, flash-boom-bang approach that nearly every action and drama series uses today. The fact that the approach used in I, Spy is still just as appealing as that of today’s series shows that that approach can and does work. It serves as a model of television done right. And even when all those other series have gone by the wayside, the approach used in I, Spy will continue to make it one of the truly best of its genre and in the modern history of television.

Last but definitely not least to consider in the success of I, Spy is the acting on the part of co-stars Bill Cosby and Robert Culp. The acting on the part of both men is entirely believable. Both men are entirely believable in their roles whether alone or as a unit. And that is thanks to the obvious chemistry between the men. That chemistry extended beyond the cameras and the exotic locales at which the series was shot. One can tell in watching the men act that neither is trying too hard by comparison to so many of today’s actors. Again, this applies to solo and dual scenes in which the men share the spotlight. Audiences that let themselves be pulled in by the duo’s acting will even find themselves laughing at both the obvious and not so obvious comedic moments. And when they are fighting off the bad guys, some viewers might even find themselves almost like a little kid, getting wrapped up in said fight scenes. Again, that’s because the acting on the part of both men is simply that expert. When audiences take into account the expert acting of both Cosby and Culp, and set it alongside the general lack of special effects and the solid writing throughout the series, they will agree that together, all three aspects join together to make I, Spy one of the most welcome and enjoyable classic series to be released this year.

The Red Skelton Show: The Lost Episodes Is One Of 2014’s Best Box Sets For Families

Comedy today is a far cry from what it once was in the golden era of television.  Families could gather together and enjoy great shows such as Burns & Allen, The Jack Benny Show, and The Abbott & Costello Show just to name a few.  By comparison, so many of today’s sitcoms rely on sex and other material that is anything but family friendly to entertain audiences.  Thankfully, Timeless Media and Shout! Factory have partnered to counter all of that with the upcoming release of The Red Skelton Show: The Lost Episodes.  The double-disc set will be released next Tuesday, February 11^th.  And it is quite the welcome release.  Whether or not viewers are familiar with The Red Skelton Show or even Skelton’s comedy in general, this set is certain to have viewers of every age laughing uproariously.  That’s because the comedy contained in the episodes culled for this set is appropriate for every viewer.  This is just the beginning of what makes this set such a joy.  Just as important to the overall enjoyment of The Red Skelton Show: The Lost Episodes is the quality of the episodes’ footage.  The episodes culled for this set obviously came from the show’s early days.  And they look and sound quite good considering their age.  The last part of the whole the audiences will appreciate is the set’s packaging.  Timeless Media and Shout! Factory continue to maintain their high standard of packaging with this collection of episodes.  That and the aforementioned factors work together to make The Red Skelton Show:  The Lost Episodes a must have for anyone looking for true quality and family friendly comedy.

The episodes collected for The Red Skelton Show: The Lost Episodes are collectively an excellent example of what once made comedy great.  Maybe it is the dad in this critic.  Maybe it’s just this critic’s more conservative side talking.  But in comparison to so much of what is on television today, the comic elements of The Red Skelton Show make it far more entertaining than much of what fills the television spectrum today.  The sketches that Skelton would use are loaded with wonderful physical comedy for the whole family as well as some commentary that while sharp for its time, is still tame by comparison to what is out there today.  A prime example would be commentary about Kennedy in one of Skelton’s Freddie the Freeloader skits.  That same skit also offers some great jokes about Freddie being healthy despite living in poor conditions.  The jokes that make up the dialogue in this skit are just as hilarious as the physical comedy.  The other skits included in this set are each loaded with their own jokes and gags, too.  They are certain to have any viewer laughing out loud with every watch.

The jokes and gags that make up the episodes in this set are a joy for the entire family.  Just as worth noting is the quality of the footage.  The vintage footage of these classic episodes looks wonderful.  So it goes without saying that the painstaking efforts undertaken to restore and resurrect these episodes more than paid off.  It paid off both for viewers and for those charged with bringing the episodes back to life once again.  It’s the visual equivalent of putting a classic vinyl onto a turntable and listening to it.  It just brings back such a sense of nostalgia.  Making the deal even sweeter, Timeless Media and Shout! Factory took the high road with this set, letting viewers know that the footage was re-mastered as best as possible.  Both companies are to be applauded for including the disclaimer.  It shows that both companies know some people simply can’t be pleased.  So the use of a disclaimer is the only feasible answer.  For that, those responsible for collecting the episodes for this set and dusting them off for a whole new generation are more than deserving of applause.

The quality of the episodes’ footage and their content are both excellent reasons that any pure comedy fan or even comic will want to check out this new set.  There’s still at least one more factor to this set that makes it so pleasant to take in.  That final factor is the set’s packaging.  Both discs are placed in their own spot inside the case.  Even more interesting (and this may not be the case with other copies) to note is that this critic’s copy of the set also included a pad of sorts inside the case that kept the two discs from touching each other even on their “faces.”  This protects the discs from one another even more.  It might be a bit of overkill.  But it proves yet again just how much Timeless Media and Shout! Factory care about presenting the best product possible for consumers.  That concern for presenting the best product possible is the proverbial icing on the cake for this brand new set.  It led to top notch packaging for another new release from both companies.  It also led to impressively restored vintage footage, which  also made it easier to take in the family friendly comedy.  It all makes The Red Skelton Show: The Lost Episodes a must have for anyone that wants true, pure comedy.  It will be available next Tuesday, February 11^th and can be pre-ordered online now via the Shout! TMG Announces Release Date For New Red Skelton Show DVD Set

Timeless Media, a division of Shout! Factory, has announced that it will release a brand new collection of episodes from comedic legend Red Skelton’s show this winter.

The Red Skelton Show: The Lost Episodes will be released Tuesday, February 11^th via Timeless Media.  The double-disc set will contain sixteen episodes from Skelton’s Emmy® and Golden Globe ® award-winning show.  This release marks the first time ever that the episodes culled for the set have seen the light of day on DVD.  Also included will be two bonus episodes featuring special guest hosts.  The set will be available in stores and online at the Shout! Shout! Factory, Timeless Media Unearth A “Timeless” TV Time Capsule In The Gene Autry Show: The Complete Series

Gene Autry’s name is one that is synonymous with success.  The “Singing Cowboy” has five stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  Each one is for each entertainment medium.  Yet for all of his fame, he has sadly become one of the entertainment industry’s forgotten names.  Thanks to Shout! Factory and Timeless Media, that might finally change thanks to the release of The Gene Autry Show: The Complete Series, Collector’s Edition.  This fifteen disc set is an absolute must have for any viewer.  Whether one grew up with the series, new to its stories, or just a TV history buff, everyone will find something worthwhile in this brand new set.  Audiences will appreciate more than anything the fact that The Gene Autry Show: The Complete Series, Collector’s Edition presents every one of the series’ episodes exactly as they aired in their original broadcasts.  Fans of the series will also appreciate that in this brand new set, they get no just the original TV series in its full entirety, but also a handful of rather valuable bonuses.  And just as important to note is the set’s packaging.  The set’s packaging is bare bones, but still protects each of the set’s fifteen discs, making it that much more valuable for viewers of any age.

The very first thing that audiences will appreciate about The Gene Autry Show: The Complete Series, Collector’s Edition is that every single one of the series’ episodes is presented here.  Each episode is presented in its full entirety, too.  That means that audiences get no just the episodes, but the promotional spots for the shows, sponsor, Doublemint Gum.  Casual viewers of the series might just turn their heads at this.  But those that have more understanding of its importance will applaud this inclusion.  Whereas certain other programs at the time were sponsored by cigarette companies, this series was sponsored by a chewing gum company.  That only served to make it all the more family friendly.  The same can be said of its value to families today.  If that isn’t enough for audiences, the fact that the original footage has stood the test of time so well is one more reason to be excited about this set.  The Gene Autry Show first debuted over sixty-three years ago.  Television was still technically in its infancy at that time.  Considering how impressive the footage still looks today, those charged with its preservation are quite worthy of applause in this case.  It’s just the tip of the iceberg for fans of The Gene Autry Show, too.

Fans of The Gene Autry Show will most definitely appreciate the fact that the entire series is presented in its full entirety and that it looks as good as it does almost sixty-four years after it originally debuted.  Audiences will appreciate just as much, the bonus material included in this brand new set from Shout! Factory and Timeless Media.  Shout! Factory and Timeless Media have included as bonus material a sampling of the radio shows that would lead to one of Autry’s five stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  And just as is the case with the video footage, the quality of the included radio show episodes is quite impressive, too.  Timeless Media and Shout! Factory didn’t stop there.  Oh, no.  Also included are trailers for some of his more well-known works.  The set’s fifteenth disc puts its bonus material over the top.  Disc Fifteen provides audiences with two episodes each from each of the five shows produced by Autry’s own company, Flying A Pictures.  Those shows were obviously his own show, The Range Rider, Annie Oakley, Buffalo Bill, Jr., and The Adventures of Champion.  Once again, one has to note the quality of the footage.  The quality of the footage stands out, as does the enjoyment factor of each of the shows’ two episodes.  It serves to make the set as a whole even more worth its roughly $80.00 MSRP.

The bonus material included in The Gene Autry Show: The Complete Series, Collector’s Edition and the inclusion of the entire series itself are the most important of factors in this set’s release.  But they aren’t all to be considered.  The set’s packaging must also be taken into account.  And the packaging will impress audiences just as much as everything else already noted.  Each of the set’s fourteen primary discs are placed one on either side of seven separate slip cases.  The bonus fifteenth disc is given its own spot inside its own case.  The set’s fourteen primary discs are protected from one another and from themselves, being placed in their own spot inside each of the set’s seven slip cases.  The same can be said of the bonus fifteenth disc.  And the exterior box that holds all fifteen discs is just as simplistic.  As simplistic as it is, audiences will enjoy the extra information on the show provided on the rear of the box.  It is provided here in place of an extra booklet.  Extra information is also provided on each of the set’s separate slip cases, too.  The inclusion of so much background information set against the simplistic yet smart packaging brings everything full circle with this set.  Taking it and the set’s bonus features and main material into account, it all collectively makes The Gene Autry Show: The Complete Series, Collector’s Edition one of the most valuable time capsules of television history to be unearthed in a very long time.  It will be available Tuesday, December 10^th on DVD and can be ordered direct from the Shout!
