Yanks Look To Sweep Jays Sunday In Weekend Series Finale Live On TBS

The New York Yankees continue their post season hunt Sunday afternoon on TBS as they close out a three-game weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The “Bronx Bombers” just wrapped the second win of the series earlier today, taking Game Two 11-6 against Toronto.  Luis Severino (15-6) was credited with the win for New York while Sean Reid-Foley (0-2) took the loss for the Jays.

J.A. Happ (13-6) is expected to get the start Sunday afternoon for the Yankees. His last time on the mound was August 14 against Tampa Bay.  Happ was credited with the win in the Yanks’ 4-1 victory over the Rays in that game, allowing only 1 hit and 4 walks over 7 innings while striking out 4 batters.

Ryan Borucki (2-2) is expected to get the start for Toronto.  His last time on the mound was also August 14 when Toronto took on the Royals.  Jake Petricka (2-1) was credited with the win for Toronto while Borucki struggled slightly over the course of just four innings.  Borucki only struck out one batter while allowing four runs on six hits, four earned runs and four walks, so he’ll be looking to improve Sunday afternoon when the Blue Jays close out this weekend’s series against the Yankees in the teams’ American League East matchup.

While the Yankees (76-46) — currently second in the American League —  have taken two of three already this weekend from the Blue Jays, it won’t make too much difference in the race against long-time rivals the Boston Red Sox.  However, one more win is still critical for the “Pinstripers” because New York is just ahead of Houston (74-48) and Oakland (73-49) in the American League standings, so Sunday’s game will still have its own importance for New York as it tries to maintain its place in the race to the post season.

The Blue Jays also have nothing to lose as they sit below the cutoff line in the American League standings for the post season at 55-67 with little chance at a playoff spot. This weekend’s losses have Toronto in the midst of a two-game losing streak and have dropped the team to 4-6 in its last 10 games.  The losses drop Toronto’s road record now to 26-35 so far on the season versus a 29-32 home record, so by the numbers, the odds are in New York’s favor to sweep this weekend’s series against Toronto.

TBS To Carry Exclusive Coverage Of MLB’s 2016 American League Postseason Games

Turner Sports announced Monday that TBS will be the exclusive TV home for the 2016 American League postseason.

The network will carry exclusive coverage of the American League’s postseason games beginning with Tuesday’s American League Wild Card Game. Coverage of the American League Wild Card Coverage on TBS presented by Hankook Tire begins at 8:00pm ET on TBS as the Blue Jays take on the Orioles for a spot in the AL postseason.

Sports Emmy Award-winning commentator Ernie Johnson will have the call for Tuesday night’s game.  He will be joined by veteran MLB on TBS analysts Ron Darling and Cal Ripken, Jr. for additional commentary. Sam Ryan will also be on hand for all of the latest in-game news and interviews.

MLB Postseason Pre-Game Show on TBS presented by the All-New Chrysler Pacifica will precede game coverage at 7:30pm ET.Casey Stern will anchor the broadcast and will be joined at the desk by MLB Hal of Famer Pedro Martinez, 9-time MLB All-Star Gary Scheffield, and 2007 National League MVP Jimmy Rollins for additional commentary.

TBS’ exclusive American League Division Series coverage on TBS presented by T-Mobile begins Thursday afternoon at 4pm ET with MLB Postseason Pre-Game presented by the All-New Chrysler Pacifica.  Following the broadcast, the Rangers will host the winner of Tuesday’s American League Wild Card matchup with coverage beginning at 4pm ET.  The Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians follow at 8pm ET.

Ernie Johnson will have the call for the Red Sox/Cleveland series.  He will be joined by Cal Ripken, Jr. and Ron Darling for additional commentary along with reporter Sam Ryan.

Brian Anderson will anchor the best-of-five series between the Rangers and winner of Tuesday’s Blue Jays/Orioles series.  He will be joined by analyst and MLB great Dennis Eckersley and fellow analyst Joe Simpson, and reporter Matt Winer for additional commentary and news.

TBS will begin coverage of the American League Championship Series on Friday, October 14^th.

MLB fans will that won’t be near a television during the American League’s postseason can still catch every game streaming online at http://www.tbs.com and via the Watch TBS app.  Additionally, all American League postseason games will be simulcast in Spanish via SAP.  CNN en Espanol will also carry coverage of upcoming AL postseason games.

ESPN To Feature Its Own Battle Of Red Vs. Blue Friday In Postseason Impact Game

ESPN has added another matchup to its 2016 MLB postseason coverage schedule.

The Blue Jays and Red Sox will face off live this Friday on ESPN. The game, the first in the teams’ three-game weekend series, will be the network’s key MLB Postseason Impact Game telecast presented by Exxon and Mobil.  Broadcast of the game is expected to begin at 7:10pm ET.

Neither team has announced its rotation for the game or who will take the mound.  The weekend series will have extra meaning for Red Sox fans and for star David Ortiz.  That is because this weekend’s series is the last regular season series at Fenway Park for Ortiz.

Ortiz announced ahead of the 2016 season that this season would be his last before he hangs up his cleats and bat for good.  Ortiz will go out on a high note, though as the Red Sox have already clinched a spot in the postseason. So his final season will be extended at least a little bit longer.

Dan Shulman will have the call for Friday’s game.  He will be joined in the booth by analysts Aaron Boone and Jessica Mendoza for additional commentary.  The game will be blacked out in the Boston market.

Friday’s game is just the latest in ESPN’s 2016 MLB season broadcast schedule.  The Indians and Tigers will be live on ESPN and ESPN Deportes+ in a Wednesday double header schedule. The Rockies and Giants cap the night beginning at 10pm ET.  The Indians and Tigers will be live again on ESPN and ESPN Deportes+ at 1pm ET on Thursday.

Yankees, Blue Jays Face Off Live On TBS This Weekend

Two AL East opponents will face off this week in the latest edition of TBS’ Sunday MLB on TBS.

The Yankees and Blue Jays will face off live at 1:00pm ET on TBS’ weekly MLB program Sunday MLB on TBS.  The game is the third in the teams’ four-game series.  The series’ closer is Monday night with first pitch set for 7:07pm.

Michael Pineda is expected to get the start for the Yankees in Sunday afternoon’s game while Marco Estrada (9-9) is expected to take the mound for Toronto.  Estrada’s last time on the mound was Monday against Seattle.  He was credited with the win in the Blue Jays’ 3-2 win over the Mariners.  Estrada shined in the game, fanning 8 while only allowing just 1 hit, 0 runs or earned runs, 3 walks and no home runs.  That was over the course of 7 innings pitched.

Pineda (6-11) last took the mound Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Rays.  Pineda pitched 5.1 innings in the Yankees 5-3 win over the Rays.  He had a rough time on the mound, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits 2 earned runs, 1 walk and no home runs while striking out 11.

The numbers seem to favor Toronto in Sunday’s game and the weekend’s series overall.  Toronto is almost as good at home as it is on the road so far this season, going 42-32 at home so far this season and 41-37 on the road.

New York meanwhile has been lackluster on the road going 35-42 on the road so far this season versus a home record of 44-31.  Even with both teams looking to get back in the “W” column this weekend – both teams lost their most recent games – Toronto’s chances are better having gone 5-5 in its last ten games versus New York going 3-7 in its last ten games.

Orioles Look To Stay Perfect Tonight Against Boston On ESPN’s WNB

The Baltimore Orioles are off to a hot start in the 2016 MLB regular season.  The team currently sits at a perfect 7 – 0 so far on the season, leaving the team the only undefeated team so far on the season.  It also means that the team currently sits atop the league standings.  Tonight the “Orange Birds” look to keep their success going when they wrap up a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox.  The game will be carried live tonight on ESPN’s Wednesday Night Baseball presented by Hankook Tire.

The Orioles and Red Sox face off tonight on ESPN in the last of a three-game series.  The game Joe Kelly is expected to get the start for the BoSox in tonight’s game.  It will be Kelly’s second start of the season.  His first start of the season was on April 8^th.  And it was a rather inauspicious start for the right hander.  He pitched three whole innings before being pulled in the fourth, having allowed 7 hits, 7 runs, 7 earned runs, and 3 walks, and striking out only four of the twenty batters that he faced over that time.  A base-clearing grand slam by Josh Donaldson in the fourth ended Kelly’s night.  Ubaldo Jimenez is expected to get the start for Baltimore in tonight’s game.  His last time on the mound was April 7^th against Minnesota.  He was credited with the win in the game having allowed only 2 runs on 8 hits, and striking out nine of twenty-eight batters over seven innings.  He allowed only 1 earned run in that time, too.

Broadcast of tonight’s game is scheduled to begin at 7pm ET.  It will be live on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes+.  Jon Sciambi will be in the booth for tonight’s game.  He will be joined by Rick Sutcliffe and Doug Glanville for additional commentary.  Before the first pitch is thrown, Karl Ravech, John Kruk, Eduardo Perez, and Tim Kurkjian will have a preview of the game on ESPN’s Baseball Tonight on ESPN2 beginning at 6:30pm ET.  Anyone that won’t be near a TV for tonight’s game can still catch the game online on WatchESPN.  More information on tonight’s game and all of ESPN’s scheduled games is available online along with all of the latest MLB headlines at:
