Illumination Road Debuts New Single, ‘The Modern World,’ Companion Video

Independent rock band Illumination Road debuted its new single and music video this week.

The band premiered its new single, ‘The Modern World’ Wednesday, along with the song’s companion video. The song is available to stream and download through Spotify, iTunes, and Apple Music.

The musical arrangement featured in ‘The Modern World’ presents a sound that leaves audiences imagining what Train would sound like if it was a southern/stoner rock act, what with the use of the guitars, keyboards and vocals. Speaking of the vocals, the fuzzed effect makes comprehension of the lyrics difficult without a lyrics sheet to reference. Though, even without comment in the press release distributed about the debut of the song and its video, one can infer at least lightly, that the song is a contemplative work that focuses on the current state of the world.

The video for ‘The Modern World’ features the band performing its single against a desert backdrop as a woman makes her way on foot and by car through the landscape.

Bassist Chad Shlosser discussed the video treatment during a recent interview.

“The video for this song came together really only because of our amazing filmmaker friends from Silver Sky,” said Shlosser. “We had a rough concept in mind but they came in with the last minute vision and miraculously knocked out the shoot in a single day without sacrificing any artistic value. I think each shot is so provocative and beautiful and lends so much to what we were feeling with it. We’re fortunate enough to have our home base be Escape Studios in Pioneertown, California (@escape) and wanted to showcase the beauty of this land that inspires it all so we shot the entire thing here. Shout out to the visionary, Rocco Gardner for that!”

Shlosser also talked about the song’s musical arrangement during his interview.

“‘The Modern World’ has been through a few production steps before we landed here,” he said. [Front man] Chris [Ayden] and I had taken it from a very progressive rock type of track and attempted to simplify things and focus on the vocals. We then sat in the studio with our dear friend, Matt Sorum (Guns ‘N Roses, Velvet Revolver) who worked on the arrangement with us which pulled the whole thing into focus. A bit more production and the addition of Greg Cahill on Hammond and piano and Michael Johnson on drums and we felt we totally nailed our sound that is now stretching across the entire album we’re finishing up right now”.

The Nomadic Pays Tribute To New York With Its Latest Single

Courtesy: O’Donnell Media Group

The Nomadic debuted its latest single this week.

The group, founded by Robert Gaylard, debuted its new single ‘Manhattan View‘ Friday.  The song is the act’s fourth single.  It follows the release of the songs ‘Drifting,’ ‘Waiting‘ and most recently, ‘Beyond Blue.’

The musical arrangement at the center of ‘Manhattan View’ is a light, airy work founded in its piano line.  Separate, subtle guitar and bass lines (and apparent harp, too) join with Gaylard’s equally gentle vocal delivery to make the song appealing to fans of acts, such as Train, Peter Cincotti, and Jamie Cullum.

The song’s lyrical theme will leave listeners with a positive feeling, too, according to Gaylard.

“The song is my ode to New York, a city that has become like a second home to me, where there is something magical in the air, something so amazingly creative that you feel like absolutely anything is possible!,” he said.

‘Manhattan View’ is just the latest single that Gaylard had plans to release. He also has plans to release the singles, ‘Walk The Streets,’ ‘Grand Mistakes’ and ‘Under a Georgia Sky’ as the year progresses.

Goo Goo Dolls Debut New Single, ‘Miracle Pill’

Courtesy: Warner Records

Goo Goo Dolls debuted its latest single this week.

The band debuted its new song ‘Miracle Pill’ Wednesday.  The song is streaming now through multiple outlets here.  The song is the title track to the band’s forthcoming new album, which is scheduled for release this fall.

Goo Goo Dolls front man Johnny Rzeznik explained the concept behind the song in a recent interview.

“‘Miracle Pill’ is a metaphor for the instant gratification and relief we seek from our own circumstances,” Rzeznik said.  “Are you sad? Take a pill. Are you lonely? Get popular on social media.  The fact of the matter is no one has 50 friends, much less 5,000.  I’m just trying to articulate my observations of the second decade of the 21st Century, with all its angst, avarice, confusion and insecurities.  We are inundated by bulls***, cheap, shiny objects and false solutions to every problem and desire we have.  I have no answers to these problems, but i don’t believe hero worship, life hacks, shortcuts and escapism are the answers.  I just want to make a real connection with real people in real time.”

Goo Goo Dolls is in the midst of a tour in support of its forthcoming album.  The tour is scheduled to run through Oct. 2 in Lima, Peru and features performances in cities, such as Clarkston, MI; Raleigh, NC and Tampa, FL.  The tour’s current schedule is noted below.
