Atreyu Debuts ‘Warrior’ Remix

Courtesy: Spinefarm Records

Atreyu premiered an updated take of its song ‘Warrior‘ this week.

The updated take features guest appearances by Travis Barker (Blink-182) and Zero 9:36. The original song is featured in Atreyu’s latest album, Baptize, which was released in June through Spinefarm Records.

The updated take of ‘Warrior’ does show some differences from its source material. For starters, the remix is shorter than the original take by less than only 20 seconds. The original runs approximately three minutes, five seconds while the remix runs two minutes, 48 seconds. The remix is shorter as it omits part of the breakdown and replaces it with some brief rapping from Zero 9:36 (a.k.a. Matthew Cullen). Other than that, the two arrangements are largely the same.

‘Warrior’ is just one of the songs that serves as a single for Baptize. The album has also produced the singles, ‘Save Us,’ ‘Underrated,’ and ‘Catastrophe.’

In other news, Atreyu has expanded its upcoming tour schedule. The band’s initial tour schedule was set to launch Nov. 9 in Dallas, TX with support from Tetrarch, Crown the Empire, Saul, and Defying Decay. Its new, updated schedule is set to launch Sept. 3 in Green Bay, WI with Nonpoint, Tetrarch, and Another Day Dawns.

Following its brief run with Nonpoint, Tetrarch, and Another Day Dawns, Atreyu now also has dates scheduled with Eighteen Visions, Dragged Under, and Dying Wish on Oct. 5 & 6 in Phoenix, AZ and Los Angeles, CA.

Atreyu Announces New Album Release Date, Title; Debuts Two New Songs

Courtesy: Spinefarm Records

Atreyu has a new album coming soon.

The band announced this week, it will release its next album, Baptize, June 4 through Spinefarm Records. Pre-orders are open now.

In anticipation of the album’s release, the band debuted two of its songs — ‘Warrior‘ and ‘Underrated‘ — Thursday. ‘Warrior’ features a guest appearance by famed drummer Travis Barker. The songs are the second and third of the album’s songs, following the premiere of its lead single, ‘Save Us‘ in October.

The band talked about its new songs in a prepared statement.

“‘Warrior’ is song about persistence and never giving up,” the statement reads. “We hope this song can be the puzzle piece that helps people realize that we ALL have the capacity for greatness. Sometimes, greatness can exist in the shadows and lives buried under negativity, trauma, or anxiety. ‘Warrior’ is about searching through all of that endless darkness to finally find the sunrise.”

The statement continues, “When we wrote ‘Warrior,’ the idea to do a big marching drum break came about. We wanted it to feel like a hometown football game. Travis Barker was the perfect person to bring this to life. It’s cool to have him be a part of the song and to perform in a different light than what people may be used to.”

About “Underrated,” the statement notes, “We’ve always had to prove ourselves. We’ve never been handed anything nor have we taken any shortcuts. It’s never been ‘the easy way.’ Over two decades later, we’re still making our mark.”

The track listing for Baptize is noted below.

Makeout Debuts ‘Home’ Video

Courtesy: Earshot Media

Makeout debuted the video for its latest single this week.

The band debuted the video for its single ‘Home‘ Tuesday.  The video’s debut comes more than two months after the band debuted the song’s lyric video.

The video features front man Kyle Dee in a darkly house lit only but incoming sunlight recalling memories of a woman from his past.  That footage is complimented with footage of the band members performing their part to the song in separate locations.  The video’s imagery serves to help illustrate the song’s message about a clearly broken relationship, which is a very familiar topic in the music world.

Said Dee of the song’s lyrical theme, ““Home” is about being completely drained from giving your all to a dead end relationship. It’s about wanting to build a life with somebody and being fed false promises of a picture-perfect future.”

Before joining Makeout as its front man, Dee made a name for himself as a contestant on American Idol, which at the time aired on Fox.  He also wrote and performed with The Frantic.  Dee is joined in Makeout by AJ Khah (ex-Sleep On It) on bass, and Makeout’s original members Tyler Young (lead guitar) and Scott Eckel (drums).

Matt Holmes and Travis Barker (Blink-182) produced the song.  The duo also co-wrote the new song along with Makeout’s members and Jayden Seeley (With Confidence).

Holmes shared his thoughts on the creation of ‘Home’ in a recent interview.

“I had the boys fly to PA with the intention of getting some demos hashed out,” he said.  “After digging in for a week or so, I think we all realized the tunes were turning into something special. We were fortunate enough to have Travis Barker and Matt Malpass work with Scott on the drums and programming, which definitely took the songs and production to another level. It was exciting watching the progression and getting to see the songs come into view. I’m really proud of the band, and I’m confident these songs will help serve as a proper launchpad for the next phase in MAKEOUT’s career.”

‘Home’ is available to stream and download here.

Matt Malpass Premieres New Project’s Debut Single

Courtesy: We Are Triumphant

Marigolds+Monsters, the new solo project of famed singer-songwriter/producer Matt Malpass, debuted its first single this week.

Malpass debuted the project’s lead single ‘Falling Out Of Rhythm‘ Thursday.  The light, poppy song features a guest vocal appearance by Tilian (a.k.a. Tilian Pearson) and guest on drums by Travis Barker (Blink-182, Transplants, Box Car Racer).  The song is featured in Marigolds+Monsters’ debut album Glow, which is scheduled for release Oct. 16 through We Are Triumphant.

According to Malpass, ‘Falling Out Of Rhythm’ is not necessarily a new song.

“I wrote this song with Tilian a few years back while we were recording one of his solo albums,” he said. “It sort of sat on the shelf because it never quite musically conveyed what I wanted. One day as I was working with Travis (Barker) on another project, I played him the demo and immediately he said “I know what this needs” and within 5 minutes he had laid down the drum track, first take, giving it exactly the life it needed. Travis and Tilian are both dear friends that happen to be insanely talented. I’m super grateful to have been able to do this song with them.”

‘Falling Out Of Rhythm’ is available to stream and download here. The track listing for Glow is noted below.

Tracklisting:

  1. Glowing Landscape
  2. Falling out of Rhythm (Ft. Travis Barker & Tilian)
  3. Bring It Back
  4. The Medic
  5. Lose Yourself
  6. Some Words
  7. Impossible Things
  8. Broken
  9. Out of Reach
  10. God Save the Miles

Makeout Debuts ‘Home’ Lyric Video

Courtesy: Earshot Media

Pop Punk band Makeout is back with a new lineup, single and video.

The band debuted the lyric video for its new single ‘Home‘ Thursday.  The title track from the band’s forthcoming EP, it features the first performances of American Idol Season 11 contestant/The Frantic front man Kyle Dee on vocals and AJ Khah (ex-Sleep On It) on bass with the band.  The duo joins Makeout’s original members Tyler Young (lead guitar) and Scott Eckel (drums) for the song.

The musical arrangement at the center of home is a presentation that will appeal to fans of any pop punk band.  Its lyrical theme will connect with those audiences just as easily.

Dee talked about the song’s lyrical theme in his own discussion.

““Home” is about being completely drained from giving your all to a dead end relationship,” he said.  “It’s about wanting to build a life with somebody and being fed false promises of a picture-perfect future.”

The release date for Makeout’s new EP will be announced soon.  ‘Home’ is available to stream by itself here.
