Doll Skin Debuts Sophomore LP’s Lead Single

Pop punk outfit Doll Skin is giving audiences the first taste of its new album.

The band debuted the video for its new song ‘Shut Up (You Miss Me)’ this week via the Vans Warped Tour website.  The song is the band’s first from its upcoming sophomore album Manic Pixie Dream Girl, the follow-up to the band’s 2016 EMP Label Group debut In Your Face (Again).  The record was produced by Cage9 front man Evan Rodaniche.

The song is pure pop punk in terms of its musical arrangement. Its lyrical content is a seeming story about someone who is a little bit too devoted to another person.  Audiences can check out the video online now here.

Organizers have announced that the festival’s August 2nd stop in Phoenix, Arizona has been re-scheduled.  The festival will now be held on Thursday, August 4th.  The reason for the date change is so that the festival won’t conflict with the local Panic! At The Disco/Weezer concert scheduled for August 2nd can bring their ticket stubs to the Phoenix Event Complex box office on August 4th to purchase a Warped Tour ticket for a discounted price of $35.

Kevin Lyman is the Vans Warped Tour founder.  He explained the festival date change in a statement to the press.  “Unfortunately Vans Warped Tour and Panic! At The Disco & Weezer were scheduled on the same day in Phoenix this year,” he said.  “We have heard from many people who wanted to go to both shows, so we have been able to re-schedule our Warped date to Thursday, August 4th. As a thank you we have also decided that you can bring your Panic! At The Disco/Weezer tickets to the box office on the 4th and your ticket will only be $35.00. Whitechapel Premieres ‘Elitist Ones’ Video

Whitechapel has released a new music video.

The Tennessee-based metal outfit has released the video for its latest single ‘Elitist Ones.’  The song is taken from the band’s brand new album Mark of the Blade.  That album is available now in stores and online.  The video, which was produced and directed by Jim Foster (http://red13media.com), is streaming online now via Metal Blade Records’ official YouTube channel.  It features the band performing its new song in what looks to be a warehouse setting.  Along with the footage of the band performing there is footage of a woman with some rather reptilian style skin holding a snake (likely meant to be the snake on the album’s cover) also lip synching to the band’s new song.  Foster was upbeat in discussing being tapped to helm the new video, noting his own fandom and that of his crew in working with Whitchapel on the new video.  “As fans of Whitechapel, my entire team and I were stoked when Mike Faley (Metal Blade Records) asked me to write a treatment and direct for the band, he said.  “As a director, my job is always easier when the band is rippin’…and holy s***, are these guys RIPPIN’!”   The new video is the third from the band in support of its new album.  It most recently released the lyric video for the album’s title track.  It can be viewed here.  Also streaming online is the official video for ‘The Void.’  It is also streaming online via Metal Blade Records’ YouTube channel.

Set It Off announced this week that it has a new EP on the way.

Duality: Stories Unplugged will be released on Tuesday, June 23rd via Equal Vision Records. The six-track EP will feature fully stripped down, reworked versions of five songs from the band’s 2014 full-length release Duality. It will also feature a never-before-released acoustic piece titled ‘Wild Wild World.’ In anticipation of the EP’s release, Set It Off has premiered the video for the re-worked take on the song ‘Bleak December’ online. It can be viewed now at http://setitoff.merchnow.com/.

Front man Cody Carson discussed what led to the disc’s creation noting that it stemmed in large part from fan demand. “We are so unbelievably excited to present to you: Duality: Stories Unplugged!,” he said. “We have received requests for an acoustic EP for a long time now and we had so much fun putting this together for you.” He also discussed what sets this disc apart from so many other acoustic collections, noting that “It was a huge goal on this EP to not just deliver the songs you already know with the only difference being that it’s on acoustic guitars. We took time to re-imagine some of these tracks. We wanted to name this Stories Unplugged because that is exactly how we look at these songs. These are all tales of different avenues of life we’ve walked down, and you’re along for the ride in a range of emotion and timbre. Thank you for your patience…I’m so glad we can finally provide you with this EP that we are so very proud of.” He went into even more specific detail giving as an example how the band came to its new take on ‘Bleak December.’ In regards to its creation, he said “In our acoustic arrangement of “Bleak December”, we took a more mellow approach and a more somber tone to deliver almost a whole new meaning to the song.” The track listing for Duality: StoriesUnplugged is noted below.

TRACKLISTING:
‘DUALITY: STORIES UNPLUGGED’ EP

1. Ancient History (Acoustic)
2. Tomorrow (Acoustic)

Liorti’s New LP “Real” good For Pop Punk, Emo Fans

Courtesy: Drive Records

Courtesy: Drive Records

Canadian rocker Mike Liorti (A.K.A. ROSEDALE) is beginning to make quite the name for himself.  Anyone who has seen Disney’s recent tween special, Radio Rebel, might recognize him.  Liorti has also been getting his name out there via time on the Vans Warped Tour and others.  And there has been coverage from outlets such as muchmusic.com, MTV2, XM Radio and many other outlets.  Now Liorti’s star may be rising even more with the release of his new album, Real.

Real is an eleven track piece of pop rock and emo that will easily appeal to its target audiences.  It has all of the requisite hooks and choruses along with relatable lyrical content to keep its listeners’ attention.  The first real noticeable song from Real is the album’s third track, ‘Past Times.’  In this song, Liorti sings, “Do what you must/But I must confess/I won’t stand to give up on this/Though it’s got so bad.”  Much like many of the other songs on this LP, ‘Past Times’ is a song centered on relationship issues.  Earlier in the song, he writes, “And these words are weapons/And I’m pulling the pin now/So just say the word/And it’s all over.”  Keeping that line in mind along with the latter of the two lines, ‘Past Times’ comes across as a song about someone having relationship issues.  Yet as the prior of the lines hints, Liorti’s figure in this song isn’t about to simply give up.  He says, “I won’t give up on this.”  His figure here wants to try and make things work.  That alongside the musical backing helps to illustrate that emotion of someone trying to get through one of the difficult times in any relationship.  It’s one of those pieces that Liorti’s audiences will enjoy and appreciate for its overall effect.

While ‘Past Times’ will catch audiences with its upbeat sound and relatable lyrics, Liorti offers a song that is the exact antithesis of said song in the form of ‘Eldorado Park’ later on in the song list of his new album.  The gentle piano backing Liorti’s story of two people coming back together after being apart for so long.  Again, it’s hinted that the separation in question is the result of a relationship issue.  But the combination of the music and lyrics surprisingly makes it come across as something that could easily find its way onto the soundtrack of a rom-com or even romantic drama.

By direct contrast from the relationship based songs throughout this record, Liorti does offer listeners something with a little more meat to it in the form of ‘Be All & End All.’  He directly names an individual named Steve in this song.  Apparently the individual in question had to have had quite the impression on him as he sings, “Hey two faced/You can talk the talk/But you’re running too soon/Before you can walk a little slower/Cause you’re one day short/One long day short of living.”  He goes on in similar fashion throughout the song with equally strong musical backing that helps to illustrate once more, the emotion of the lyrics.  It’s one more piece that again, Liorti’s intended audiences will appreciate given its intensity.  Of course there are other songs on this record that his audiences will appreciate just as much.

Audiences can check out more music and get all the latest news and tour dates from Liorti’s ROSEDALE project online at http://www.rosedalemusic.net, http://www.facebook.com/ROSEDALEexpress, and http://www.myspace.com/rosedalemusic.  Liorti’s North Carolina fans will get more chances this month to hear his music live as he will be making a stop in Greenville, North Carolina on Monday, December 17th at the Tipsy Teapot.  He will follow that up the following week with a performance at Glenwood Coffee and Books in Greensboro, North Carolina on Saturday, December 22nd
