Andy Grammer released more information on his upcoming sophomore full length studio release Tuesday.

Grammer announced that his upcoming sophomore release will be titled Magazines or Novels. It was also announced that the album is currently scheduled to be released Tuesday, August 5th on S-Curve Records. Grammer spoke on the inspiration behind the album’s title, explaining that it came from seeing the changing headlines of all of the covers and headlines on the newsstands out there. “While I was writing this album I kept seeing magazine and newspaper stands with their constantly changing covers and headlines and thinking how they come and go so fast,” he said. He expanded on his explanation noting that in writing so much for so the album’s final number of songs, he wanted to make sure he presented audiences with an album that would have staying power. As he put it, “I had to write about 100 songs to get 13 I felt had something grounded and timeless about it. I don’t know if I achieved my goal but I hope I was able to create songs that were timeless and not something that would come and go off the newsstands. I hope this collection of songs can have the staying power in someone’s life like a favorite novel or book.”

Along with the announced details for his new album, the video for the album’s lead single ‘Back Home’ also debuted yesterday. The video mixes footage of Grammer and his friends on his tour bus set alongside footage of him performing live. Uh Huh Her will perform live at the Visulite Theatre in Charlotte, North Carolina on Thursday, May 22nd. The performance is part of the electro-pop duo’s tour supporting its latest release, Future Souls.

Future Souls was released March 25th via Plaid Records. It was self-produced by the duo—Camila Grey and Leisha Hailey and recorded in the duo’s own home studio. Hailey discussed the duo’s decision to take the reins on its new album in a recent interview. “We finally had the time and space to really get creative,” she said. “We didn’t have to rush ourselves with any sort of deadlines. Everything was created within these four walls. That’s the beauty of being completely independent. We only have to answer to ourselves. We knew we wanted to go in a dance direction, but it doesn’t sound like a traditional ‘dance’ record.” Grey added to Hailey’s thoughts, noting that recording and producing in their own studio made the whole process more natural and loose. “It’s not straightforward. It’s very off-the-cuff, and that comes from writing and recording at home,” she said. “Think of it as avant-garde pop with a dance beat. We didn’t follow any format.”
