Pop punk band WRTHLESS debuted its latest single and its video last week.
The band debuted its single, ‘Dislike‘ Thursday, along with the song’s companion video. The song is featured in the band’s debut EP, which released last year.
The musical arrangement featured in WRTHLESS’ new single will appeal to much of the pop punk and emo that filled out the late 90s and early 2000s. Listeners can hear elements of bands, such as Blink-182, New Found Glory and others of that ilk throughout the song.
According to comments from man Jordan Day in a recent interview with The Noise, the song’s lyrical theme touches on a topic that will resonate with many listeners.
“‘Dislike’ is one of the first songs we had written before COVID and it was also one of the first songs we had written with [guitarist] Connor [Anderson] after he joined the band,” he said. “It has a lot more hard-hitting and personal themes that we don’t usually go into. It comes from a place of low self-esteem and just not caring about yourself. Waiting for opportunities to arise rather than going out to create them for yourself. This is something we feel everyone goes through a lot more than people care to admit.”
