Shout! Factory TV, Twitch Team Up For ‘Starcade’ Marathon

Shout! Factory TV has teamed with Twitch for a very special marathon.

The companies have partnered for a 6-day marathon of the classic television series Starcade.  The classic 80s series, which originally aired on TBS – then WTBS — made gaming a popular spectator sport ages before it rose to its current popularity. Contestants would play a variety of video games in each episode for the chance to win featured arcade games for themselves.

Shout! Factory TV and Twitch’s upcoming marathon begins Aug. 28 at 11 a.m. and will run through Sept. 3. It will feature every episode available from the series’ original run, most of which have not been aired in more than a decade. Geek & Sundry’s Erika Ishi.

Starcade was hosted by Mark Richards and Geoff Edwards.  It was created through a partnership between James Caruso and Mavis E. Arthur and produced by JM Production Company.

Audiences can see a trailer for the upcoming marathon online now here.
