The Dead Daisies is giving audiences their first taste of its new album.

The band debuted the lyric video for its new single ‘Unspoken‘ on April 16. The song is featured in the band’s forthcoming album Holy Ground.  The song’s musical arrangement is everything that audiences have come to expect from the band, with its up-tempo, guitar-driven presentation.

The song’s lyrical content seems to focus on a very certain kind of person, as new front man Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple) — who replaced John Corabi on vocals — sings in the song’s lead verse, “In the static/Gotta make your pledge/So dramatic and you’re out on the ledge/Bones are breaking/Hear the rattle and moan/Your body aching and you’re out in the zone/Yeah, I can hear you breathe/Unspoken/You gotta let go/Unspoken/You’re out in the glow/Unbroken/You let it all flow.”  The commentary continues in the song’s second verse, with Hughes singing, “In the oneness now you realize/Lost your compass and I sympathize/In the darkness now/You fade to grey/In the stillness you will make your way.”

It almost comes across as a person who is stuck on himself/herself; one of those oh woe is me types.  That is, of course, just this critics’ own interpretation.  It is certain to generate its own share of discussion among audiences, which is a good thing for the song, as that discussion will maintain interest in the song.

Guitarist Doug Aldrich offered some background on the song’s creation in a recent interview.

“This was one of the first songs we jammed on at Sunset Sound in Hollywood and then reworked it slightly in France, where we all hit it fresh with the benefit of a few months distance,” he said.  “In that process, David, Ben, everyone pursued ideas to give it a bit more of a Daisies vibe, with Glenn’s vibe guiding it to a place where it has become an instant classic.”

A release date for Holy Ground will be announced in the days to come.  In the meantime, audiences can stream and download ‘Unspoken’ here. Audiences can keep up with that and more information online at:
