The Dollyrots Unveils New 7-Inch Single, ‘Wrapped In Sunshine’ With Bonnie Taylor Cover For B-Side

The Dollyrots has unveiled more new music.

The trio — Kelly Ogden (bass, vocals), Luis Cabezas (guitar), and Simon Hancock (drums) — debuted its new 7-inch single, ‘Wrapped In Sunshine’ June 12. The song was accompanied by a cover of Bonnie Tyler’s hit single, ‘Holding Out For A Hero’ as a b-side. Both songs are streaming here.

The musical arrangement featured in ‘Wrapped in Sunshine’ is a distinct 80s pop rock type composition. There is something about the guitar line and semi-choral vocal delivery effect that works with the infectious beat that exhibits an influence from The Go-Gos. Whether intentional or not, the comparison is there.

No information was provided about the lyrical theme in ‘Wrapped in Sunshine.’ Lyrics were not provided with the song’s posting to The Dollyrots’ official YouTube page, either.

The group’s take of Tyler’s timeless hit single stays largely true to its source material. Perhaps the only real difference in the two takes is that The Dollyrots’ take amps up the song a little bit. At the same time ng’s origin strives successfully to maintain the song’s original 1980s vibe. It actually improves on the original.
