Independent rock band Owls & Aliens debuted its latest single this week.
The musical arrangement featured in ‘These Vices’ is a unique presentation. It is unique in that it blends a variety of influences for its whole. The clean vocals and the instrumentation lend themselves collectively exhibit influences of Tool. The screams and instrumentation puts the song more in the vein of an emocore style presentation. It is a unique combination, but still engaging and entertaining.
Rhythm guitarist Travis Siebecke talked about the song’s lyrical theme in a prepared statement.
“Lyrically, the song centers around depression, addiction, and most of all are about looking inwards in one’s self in order to gain personal reflection and direction,” he said. “As being the first song our band created to feature me as a lead vocalist, it allows for a completely different narrative and display of Owls & Aliens to share with our fans. All of us members feel it’s important to always have the most honest and genuine manner possible, and we feel like this song delivers those qualities perfectly.”
