Later this year, Boom! Studios and IDW’s five-issue sequel to its Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will tentatively be released in one complete collection.  The release is currently scheduled for release Sept. 19 through Boom! Studios and IDW.  If the release date sticks, the 144-page story — which is the sequel to the 2020 story involving the heroes on the half shell and those teenagers with attitude teaming up to defeat Shredder and Rita Repulsa – will come almost three years to the day since that story’s full paperback release.

In the meantime, audiences who have been collecting the story in its single-issue releases will get the story’s finale in the story’s fifth and final issue Wednesday.  The final chapter of this latest crossover is a presentation that audiences will agree is mostly successful.  That is thanks in large part to how this chapter unfolds.  This will be discussed shortly.  The dialogue used throughout the issue adds its own touch to the presentation and deserves its own attention.  It will be addressed later.  The artwork used in this final issue of the crossover series rounds out its most important elements and will also be examined later.  Each item noted here is key in its own way to the whole of the conclusion to Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II.  All things considered they make this latest crossover event from Boom! Studios and IDW a fine finish to this event.

The upcoming fifth issue of Boom! Studios and IDW’s limited event series, Might Morphin’ Power Rangers / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II is a mostly solid conclusion to the event.  What started in December 2022 with the evil forces defeated in the previous series reappearing for more as Casey Jones fights Karai on a rooftop continues with even more excitement and drama through the next three issues and concludes here fittingly with Casey Jones returning to the side of good (not to give away too much) and Rita and Krang being defeated.  Their fates following their defeat will be left for audiences to find out for themselves.  Readers also get to see Shredder take on the powers of the Green Ranger and even see the Dragonzord merge with the Turtle Zord (driven by Alpha 5 and Zordon) to take down Krang once and for all as he fights Shredder in the original Megazord.  Meanwhile the heroes on the half shell are busy taking on Rita, and just as things seem at their worst, they get a surprise from Casey, who had been turned into the Chaos Ranger by Rita early in the story.  While this was to be expected (what MMPRG story is complete without someone good being brainwashed and returned to good by its end?), there is something lacking here.  He just seemed to conveniently turn good again, like Rita’s spell was just conveniently reversed.  It would have been nice to have had at least a little more background on that brief moment.  That aside, the story comes out with a happy ending while leaving the door open for at least another sequel story that would definitely be interesting to see.  That will also be left for audiences to discover on their own.

Courtesy: Boom! Studios/IDW

As much as the story presented here does to make this finale so engaging and entertaining, it is just part of what makes the story so fun.  Right from the opening page, Ryan Parrott – who has written this whole series—breaks the fourth wall as he has Raphael ask, “Is that really what we’re going with” as the story opens with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles jumping back to Earth from Dimension X and the cry is heard, “Go, Go, Dimension X Rangers!!!”  That breaking the fourth wall right off the bat is a great lighthearted, comedic moment among all the more action-filled moments in the story.  Rita calling the turtles envious as they enter into the fray is just as lighthearted. It is classic villain bravado.  On yet another note, Tommy’s response when Shredder asks why he and the other Power Rangers ever “de-morph” is another great moment as Tommy tells Shredder, “Everyone has to go to the bathroom eventually.”  That continued lightheartedness even in the ongoing heat of battle, that exchange, is so simple yet so great in its simplicity.

On a slightly heavier note, Shredder berating Krang as he takes him down is another great moment of dialogue.  His assertion that the world could have been theirs, but Krang’s “lack of faith in him” is what led him to join his hated enemies is its own classic style presentation.  It is that vintage villain asserting his dominance, showing that even in this case, there really is no honor among thieves so to speak.  This is just a great throwback to so much vintage superhero/supervillain dialogue.  To that end, Parrott is to be commended for his ability to entertain audiences once more even in this aspect.  When the fully immersive dialogue is paired with his work bringing the series to its close in terms of the overall story, his continued talent is put fully on display and is fully deserving of praise.  It is all the more proof of what makes this final episode so enjoyable.

As much as the overall writing does to make the final issue of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II engaging and entertaining, it is just part of what makes the issue so enjoyable.  The artwork, contributed by the team of Dan Mora, Raul Angulo, and Ed Dukeshire, continues to impress just as much.  The color in each cell is so rich.  Case in point is the scene showing Shredder using the Green Ranger powers to morph.  The contrast of the colors – that green and gold of his suit against the purple of his cape against the black background and the green lines that show the power enveloping him – makes for such a strong scene.  That is especially the case as he takes that classic superhero/villain stance, morphing into the “Green Shredder Ranger.”

On a similar note, seeing the Dragonzord rise from the water is another great moment showing the importance of the art.  The water literally splashes against the page.  There is something about how that moment was handled that makes the art feel so real for lack of better wording.  It takes audiences back to those early days of MMPR on TV, seeing the Dragonzord rise, while improving dramatically on the familiar sequence.

One more great moment that shows the importance of the issue’s art comes late in the story as Krang, inside the Megazord, is about to use the Megazord’s sword to defeat Shredder as he sits in the Dragonzord.  The cell deserves so much more space than it received, being another of those iconic style moments.  The yellows and reds of the flames behind the Megazord makes a great contrast to the foreground while also doing well to sort of hint at the situation being like a Hell on Earth. The use of the silhouettes in the very next cell against the energy in the sword fully visible helps enhance the moment, showing even further, the power of the art in this issue.  Between these moments and so many others, the art exhibited throughout the issue proves just as impressive as the story and the dialogue used to help the story progress.  When the art is considered along with the rest of the issue’s content, the whole makes the conclusion to Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II a fitting finale to the story and continuation of its predecessor that will leave readers hoping for at least one more sequel in the not-too-distant future.

The fifth issue of Boom! Studios and IDW’s Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ latest crossover event is a mostly solid closing to the limited event series.  Its success comes in large part through its featured story, which finds Krang and Rita Repulsa finally defeated once again, this time through the combined efforts of the Rangers, the turtles, and lo and behold Shredder, who utilizes the Green Ranger powers to help defeat Rita and his one-time fellow villain.  The end looks to finally be in sight for Rita and Krang, but the story leaves the door open in its epilogue for at least one more sequel to come along.  Whether that will happen is anyone’s guess.  The dialogue that helps the story progress plays its own role in the issue’s success.  That is because so much of it is classic style superhero/villain banter.  It throws back to a great bygone era, and in turn makes the story all the more immersive, engaging and entertaining.  The artwork displayed throughout the issue is so rich from beginning to end, making for just as much enjoyment.  The richness of the colors and the ability of the art to actually look like they jumped right off the TV screen at points makes for even more engagement and entertainment.  Each item noted here is important in its own way to the issue’s success.  All things considered they make the finale to Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II a fitting finale to this limited series.

‘Sundowners’ Will Appeal Widely To The Answer’s Most Devoted Audiences, Guitar Rock Purists

Courtesy: Golden Robot Records

Late last month, veteran rock band The Answer released its latest album, Sundowners, through Golden Robot Records.  The band’s seventh full-length studio offering, it came more than six years after the release of its then latest album, 2016’s Solas, which was released through Napalm Records.  The new, 11-song record is sure to appeal to the band’s established audiences and to most guitar purists.  That is due in part to its featured musical arrangements, which will be discussed shortly.  The lyrical themes that accompany the album’s musical arrangements make for their own appeal and will be discussed a little later.  The record’s sequencing rounds out its most important elements, adding its own touch to the whole and will also be discussed a little later.  Each item noted is important in its own way to the whole of the album’s 43-minute presentation.  When they are considered collectively the whole makes Sundowners another mostly welcome addition to this year’s field of new rock albums.

Sundowners, the new album from The Answer, is a record that will find easy appeal among audiences, established and otherwise.  That is due in large part to its featured musical arrangements.  From beginning to end, the album’s featured musical arrangements directly exhibit influences of classic rock and pure guitar rock.  ‘Blood Brother,’ the album’s second track (and its first full track following the instrumental opener/title track) to the clearly Black Crowes-esque ‘California Rust’ to the classic/southern tinge of ‘No Salvation’ to the funky sound and style of ‘All Together’ and more, the arrangements exhibited throughout the album each present distinct classic rock and guitar rock leanings.  At the same time, each song presents its ow unique identity separate from its counterparts and of course from the works of the bands that have so clearly influenced these works.  That the songs largely throw back to the works that made up the band’s existing catalog (especially its earlier albums) will appeal to the more open-minded of the band’s established audiences.  That is because, again, these works don’t try to reinvent the wheel so to speak.  They are just straight forward, fully accessible works that make the album just as strong a return for those audiences and a jumping on point for new audiences.

The musical arrangements exhibited throughout Sundowners are collectively just one part of what makes the album worth hearing.  The lyrical themes that accompany that musical content makes for its own appeal.  Right from the record’s outset, the band delivers a seeming message of unity in ‘Blood Brother’ as front man Cormac Neeson sings in the song’s chorus, “I can’t breathe till the air disappears at night/I can’t feel till we’re free from the hate that we got.”  That he calls for help from his “blood brother” and “blood sister” throughout the song adds to that sense of wanting that unity.  That call for unity is repeated in different fashion later in the album’s run in ‘All Together.’  Neeson sings here, “Unity is power/And power’s what you got” in the song’s lead verse, coming right out and putting that out there.  In the song’s chorus, he calls for everybody to come together because “Things are better all together” before adding in the song’s second verse, “Sometimes it might be easy/Just to walk away/But then you don’t got nothin’/Nothing left to say.”  These messages of unity are just as welcome and needed today as in any period in the world’s history.

The mandatory song about a relationship is also included in this record in the form of ‘Want You To Love Me.’  The message is clear right from the outset as Neeson sings in the song’s chorus, “I want you to love me/Like I’m a slave to your light/And I need you to love me/Just like a wave on the beach/Whispering something outta reach/How come you know just how to roll me every time.”

Similar themes of relationships are spread across the rest of the album.  When they are paired with the record’s fully accessible musical arrangements, that whole makes each song accessible in its own right to the whole of the album.  The result is a record whose content makes for reason enough for audiences to hear this record at least once.

As much as the content featured in this record does to make the album interesting, it is just part of what makes the record engaging and entertaining.  The sequencing of said content makes for even more interest.  For the most part, the sequencing ensures that the record’s energy remains high throughout the album in each composition.  There are two points however, — ‘No Salvation’ and ‘Always Right’ – at which slow things down.  Those two songs are perfectly placed.  That is because they serve so well to break up the record and give audiences a moment to catch their collective breaths by changing things up just enough to make things interesting.  That sequencing shows clearly that some thought was put into the aesthetic element.  When the positive general effect that results from the sequencing is considered along with the album’s content, the whole leaves Sundowners a mostly enjoyable record for the most devoted of The Answer’s fans.

Sundowners, the latest album from The Answer, is a presentation that the band’s most devoted fans will find appealing.  That is due in part to its featured musical arrangements.  The arrangements, which throw back to a point, to the works featured in the band’s earlier records.  They do this as they present a blend of classic rock and pure guitar rock-influenced compositions from one to the next.  Each work is equally infectious, engaging and entertaining because it establishes its own identity separate from one another and from the works in those albums.  The lyrical content featured with the musical content is just as accessible in its topics and how the topics are addressed.  That makes for its own share of engagement and entertainment.  When the overall content is considered, it gives those noted audiences reason enough to take in the album.  The sequencing of that overall content puts the finishing touch to the album’s presentation.  That is because the clear thought and time that went into the sequencing results in a positive general effect.  When the sequencing of the record’s overall content is considered along with the album’s content, the whole makes for all the more reason to hear the album.  Each item noted is important in its own way to the whole of the album’s presentation.  All things considered they make Sundowners one more mostly welcome addition to this year’s field of new rock albums.

Fore Premieres New Single, ‘Wild Out,’ Companion Video

Independent punk rock bad Fore premiered its latest single and video this week.

The band debuted the video for its new single, ‘Wild Out‘ Thursday, and the song’s official premiere followed Friday. The band premiered the simple, skate-themed video through online magazine, The Punk Site. The song is featured on the band’s forthcoming album, Skin. The record is scheduled for release June 23 through Listenable Insanity Records.

The musical arrangement featured in the band’s new single is a familiar style composition. Its skate punk sound and style is easily comparable to works from the likes of Pennywise, much like other existing works from Fore. No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the news release announcing the premiere of the new single and its video. Lyrics are not provided with the song’s video, either.

In listening to the lyrics, the theme comes across as centering on the all too familiar topic of perhaps dealing with negative situations and settings, and doing something about one’s situation because one does not feel like one fits into a given scenario. That is just this critic’s interpretation.

The video for the band’s new single features various skate-themed visuals, such as someone slamming a skateboard on concrete for some reason out of frustration, someone simply riding around on a skateboard and skating at a skate park.

Anna Kloots’ New Memoir Will Cast Its Own Spell On Her Targeted Readers

Courtesy: Harper Horizon

Stories of love and loss are among the most commonplace topics in the entertainment world.  From the realms of television and movies to music and even books, they absolutely dominate all of those landscapes.  Those themes were central in the 2021 memoir Live Your Life: My Story of Loving and Losing Nick Cordero.  The memoir was co-written by sisters Anna and Amanda Kloots about Amanda’s own life and loss.  Now almost two years after its publication – through Harper Horizon – Anna Kloots will share her own story of love and loss with her debut solo memoir, My Own Magic: A Reappearing Act.  Scheduled for release May 16 through Harper Horizon, the memoir is certain to engage the Kloots sisters’ established audiences and those readers who are less familiar with their work.  That is due in large part to the story at the book’s heart.  It will be discussed shortly.  The transitions that Kloots uses as she tells her story adds to the book’s appeal and will be discussed a little later.  The chapters’ lengths put the finishing touch to the overall presentation and really complete its picture.  This will also be discussed later.  Each item addressed here is important in its own way to the whole of My Own Magic: A Reappearing Acta presentation that proves itself worth reading.  All things considered they make Kloots’ solo debut memoir a work that will appeal to pretty much any of her readers and most female readers.

My Own Magic: A Reappearing Act, the forthcoming new memoir from New York Times best-selling author Anna Kloots, is a presentation that a wide range of readers will find engaging.  That is due in large part to its story.  The story, which obviously is aimed primarily at her established audience of female readers (and female audiences in general) is a coming-of-age story that starts with Kloots’ recollection of the events that happened after her divorce from her husband, Ace, setting the stage for the story to come.  She opens the story explaining how her sister Amanda was actually the one who introduced her to Ace at a dinner in 2009 in New York.  Kloots not so indirectly admits that she fell fast and hard for him thanks to the way he worked his own brand of magic on her.  From there Kloots’ story follows the highs and lows of her life with Ace (whose last name she never uses at any point in the story, interestingly enough).  From their first date to breaking up, getting back together, and then the highs and lows of their marriage (more times seemed lows than highs and came as the pair traveled the world primarily for Ace), Kloots’ story is certain to keep the noted audiences reading from beginning to end.  That is because while it is a true story, it plays out like something from so many romantic dramas that those targeted readers would spend just as much time watching on television on the likes of Hallmark Channel and Lifetime or even in theaters.

Overcoming the difficulties faced by dealing with Ace’s lack of real love for her (and his almost man child type of persona) the result of her divorce, making a life for herself and even overcoming the difficulties laid out by the COVID-19 pandemic – all of which are part of the story — also ensure that engagement in the story, with her being a more confident, self-assured figure who had figured out her own direction in life in the end (not to give away too much).  It is an empowering story that will definitely resonate with her audiences and female readers in general.

The story itself is just one part of what ensures readers’ engagement.  The manner in which Kloots delivers her story also plays into that appeal.  More specifically the language that she uses plays into that appeal.  She could have so easily used too much flowery language and allowed herself to get lost in the descriptions of the places to which she and Ace traveled, but instead she used language and descriptions that are fully accessible.  The result is that readers will find the chapters quick, easy reads.  The longest chapter spans no more than 18 pages and the shortest chapters span only four pages.  Add in the fact that the story in whole (including the epilogue) spans only 278 pages and that appeal increases even more from the story.  That is because the length will leave readers feeling even less intimidated by the book.

The story and the general presentation style therein is key to the success of My Own Magic: A Reappearing Act do plenty to keep people turning the book’s pages from beginning to end.  They are only part of what makes the story worth reading among most of her audiences.  The transitions build on the foundation established by the already addressed elements.  The transitions start out a little rough in the opening few chapters as Kloots jumps around in setting the stage.  That is a little problematic, but once she sets the stage the transitions become clear and solid from one chapter to the next.  Each chapter begins and ends solidly, showing the attention that Kloots paid to that fluidity.  The result is that once the story really gets going, readers will be able to just keep reading.  There will be no urge to go back and re-read any portion of any chapter.  To that end, Kloots deserves credit, too.  When this aspect of her new book is considered along with the story itself and the general writing style used therein, the whole of these elements fully ensures readers’ engagement, showing even more why audiences will want to read her story.

As noted already, the story’s chapters are not that long from one to the next.  This might not seem overly important on the surface, but on a deeper level it is crucial to the story (and to any book).  In an age when it certainly seems like people’s attention spans are increasingly short (honestly some people’s attention spans seem as short as those of children), having relatively short chapters is crucial in its own right to the book.  Looking at the book’s table of contents, it is revealed that the book’s longest chapter spans 18 pages.  That is not that long at all, especially taking into account – again – the fully accessible writing style that Kloots uses throughout each chapter.  The shortest chapters span only four pages each, and that happens multiple times throughout the story. In all the story spans nearly 30 chapters, but those chapters (and in turn the story overall) will fly right by.  To that end, this item plays just as much into the story’s accessibility and success as the story’s primary content and how it is written.  When it is considered alongside those elements, the whole makes the story in whole a memoir that is certain to appeal to Kloots’ established audiences and most female audiences in general.

My Own Magic: A Reappearing Story, the new memoir from New York Times best-selling author Anna Kloots, is a presentation that most readers will find interesting.  That is due in large part to its story.  The story follows Kloots from her days as a starry-eyed, idealistic college student through her personal development to becoming a confident, self-empowered adult after going through so many experiences with her now former magician ex-husband.  The story plays out like so many romantic dramas that one might see in so many theaters or even on Lifetime and Hallmark on a weekend, but to that end, it will appeal easily to any of her established readers and to most female readers.  That is, again, because it tells a coming-of-age story that finds its main subject growing and becoming her own person, overcoming the obstacles set in front of her across her life.  The transitions that Kloots uses throughout the story help it to progress fluidly from point to point.  That is certain to help ensure the noted readers’ engagement throughout the story.  The chapters’ lengths put the finishing touch to the story, with the longest not even spanning 20 pages and the shortest spanning only four pages.  This is certain to keep readers from feeling intimidated by the book in its own right.  Each item noted here is important in its own right to the whole of this book.  All things considered they make My Own Magic: A Reappearing Act a work that is certain to generate its own share of success for Kloots and bolster her place in the literary community even more.

My Own Magic: A Reappearing Act is scheduled for release May 16 through Harper Horizon, which is a division of Harper Collins.  More information on this and other titles from Harper Horizon is available at:

Yes Debuts New Album’s Second Single

Courtesy: InsideOut Music/Sony Music

Veteran prog-rock band Yes gave audiences another preview of its new album, Mirror to the Sky this week.

The preview came in the form of the album’s second single, ‘All Connected‘ and the song’s companion lyric video. The band debuted the single Tuesday, more than a month after premiering the album’s lead single, ‘Cut From The Stars‘ and its companion lyric video.

Clocking in at just over nine minutes, the band’s latest single lends itself to comparison to works from the likes of Spock’s Beard just as much as Transatlantic. That is evidenced through the combination of the song’s light guitar line, keyboards and vocals. In simple terms, the arrangement is a work that will especially appeal to fans of vintage prog-rock.

According to bassist Billy Sherwood, the lyrical theme at the heart of the band’s new single centers on how people communicate.

The initial idea came from a musical sketch I’d created using the idea of our ‘connectivity’ in regard to communications in the modern age,” Sherwood said.

The song’s lyric video works with that concept by presenting imagery, such as silhouettes of people all connected, communication lines spanning the Earth, and fiber optic cables.

Mirror to the Sky is scheduled for release May 19 through InsideOut Music/Sony Music. The album’s track listing is noted below:

The tracklisting is as follows:

CD1:

1. Cut From The Stars 05:27

2. All Connected 09:02

3. Luminosity 09:04

6. Circles of Time 04:59

CD2:

1. Unknown Place 08:15

2. One Second Is Enough 04:04

The Stone Eye Debuts New Album’s Latest Single, Video

Courtesy: Electric Talon Records

Independent rock band The Stone Eye has unveiled the latest single from its new album, along with the song’s companion video.

The band debuted its new single, ‘Oogie-Dew‘ and its companion video Friday. The song is the third single from the band’s brand new album, Fata Morgana, which is available now. The album previously produced the singles, ‘Not My Circus‘ and ‘Donora‘.

The musical arrangement featured in ‘Oogie-Dew’ is a unique composition. Its unique vocal delivery style and almost percussive style work on the guitars and bass at times lend the song to comparison to various stoner rock compositions but at others, to more experimental style music. To that end, the nearly five-minute composition really defies any firm classification, which is actually a good thing for the band. That is because it means there is so much originality in this presentation in regard to its sound and style. It is not just another run-of-the-mill work that can so easily be categorized into one genre or another.

The musical arrangement featured in this song is just one part of what makes it interesting. No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the press release announcing the premiere of the song and its video. The lyrics provided with the video are so metaphorical in their presentation that they leave the window wide open for interpretation, which is just as much of a positive as the nature of the song’s arrangement.

The video features the band performing its new single in the sanctuary of a church on one side. It also features the band members following a woman through a forest as she carries an umbrella. As she sees them following her, it would appear she either faints or worse. That is left to interpretation, too.

Fences Debuts New Album’s Second Single

Courtesy: ENCI Records

Fences unveiled the latest single from its forthcoming album this week.

The band, the brainchild of singer/songwriter/guitarist Christopher Mansfield, premiered its new single, ‘No One‘ Tuesday. The song is the second single from the band’s forthcoming album, Bright Soil, which is currently due out in August through ENCI Records. Its exact release date is under consideration. The act premiered the record’s lead single,  ‘Thin Legs‘ and the song’s video last month.

The musical arrangement featured in Fences’ new single is a catchy, upbeat composition that presents some influence from the pop music of the 80s while also hinting at similarities to a variety of indie acts from the 90s at the same time. The overall presentation is a work that is certain to entertain and engage audiences.

While the song’s arrangement is upbeat and poppy, Mansfield explained in a recent interview, the song’s lyrical theme is somewhat heavier.

“‘No One’ is a VERY old song,” Mansfield said. “Written when I could fall in love with how a woman rolled a cigarette and a cocaine nose bleed was used to finger paint on a brown grocery bag. In the end, regardless of how relevant the lyrics are to me now in my life is, in fact, irrelevant. Someone else is somewhere else other than me. The song is a gallop that I still resonate with. The tempo is anxious in a way that feels alluring. I’d like to do more songs at this speed.”

Bury Mia Debuts New Single, ‘Daddy Issues’

Independent punk outfit Bury Mia debuted its new single this weekend.

The band unveiled its new single, ‘Daddy Issues‘ Friday. The song’s premiere follows that of the band’s then latest single, ‘We’ve Been Trying To Reach You About Your Car’s Extended Warranty‘ in January. The new single presents a musical arrangement that is easily comparable to works from the likes of Blink-182 and other similar pop punk acts.

Bassist Devin Martinez talked about the song’s lyrical theme in a prepared statement.

“The heart of this song stems from my childhood or lack thereof,” Martinez said. “I had a lot of home problems when I was growing up. This song is directed at that person who is in and out of your life and really stems from me coming to terms with the fact that that person will never be back in my life. The pre-chorus to this song is sort of a wish that I would have. A wish that they would leave a note or let me know they would not be back.”

He continued, “For me, that never came to be. They would leave and return years later, just to cause havoc and that is why the chorus is exaggerated with the word “Liar”. That individual in my life couldn’t commit to anything, including the title of Father. Thanks for listening and hope you enjoy “Daddy Issues””.

In other news, Bury Mia has a concert scheduled for May 5 in Boulder, CO. More information on the concert, the band’s new single, video and more is available along with all of the band’s latest newsat:

The Dollyrots Debuts New Single, ‘Still Holding On,’ Lyric Video

Punk rock outfit The Dollyrots kicked off the weekend with the premiere of its latest single and video.

The band unveiled its new single, ‘Still Holding On‘ and the song’s companion lyric video Friday. The song’s musical arrangement is a catchy, upbeat composition that will appeal easily to any pop punk fan just as much as the band’s established audiences.

Lyrically, the song is a social commentary of sorts, according to vocalist/bassist Kelly Ogden.

“It’s a song about counting on the people you love to get you through the strangeness of modern life,” Ogden said. “The lyric video features an AI generated version of me, a digital reminder of how off-kilter the Future is becoming.”

The video in question features Ogden on screen as the song’s lyrics are presented all around her as she simply stands in classic rock position, bass in front of her as if she was on stage performing.
