More than 15 years after its last run, the famed Milwaukee Metal Fest is scheduled to return this year.

Hatebreed front man Jamey Jasta purchased the rights to the festival last year and announced details for the resurrected festival Monday. This year’s three-day festival is scheduled to span May 26-28 and will feature performances from the likes of Lamb of God, Anthrax, and Misery Index.

I cannot wait to see all the bands and hang with everyone in Milwaukee. I’m so grateful for [booking agent] Tim Borror and the Sound Talent Crew; and Leslie, Joe, and everyone at The Rave/Eagles for helping us put this event together. Milwaukee Metal Fest is back! See you in Wisconsin this May!”

Borror shared Jasta’s enthusiasm about bringing back the festival.

“Milwaukee Metal Fest was such a huge part of the metal culture back in the day, and it really helped a lot of bands,” he said. “It was always at The Rave and the combo is iconic. Maple Blues Band Debuts New Album’s Latest Single, ‘Hey Nola’

Courtesy: Cordova Bay Records

The Maple Blues Band released its latest album, Let’s Go Friday through Cordova Bay Records.

In anticipation of the record’s release, the band recently premiered the video for the album’s latest single, ‘Hey Nola.’ The full-on instrumental composition is a fitting tribute to “The Big Easy” what with its Dixieland approach and sound. Its energy and overall presentation immediately lends itself to so many equally enjoyable works from the likes of Dr. John.

The video for this composition is definitely a uniquely engaging and entertaining presentation in its own right. That is because of its semi-stop motion approach and the visuals used in the presentation. From sea life to plants to amphibians to much more, the overall visualization is an intriguing companion to the song.

Escape The Hive Takes On Social Media With New Single

Courtesy: Shock Records/Vanity Music Group

Independent rock band Escape The Hive is scheduled to release its new album, This Is Gonna Sting this year, and in anticipation of its pending release, the band debuted the lyric video for the record’s lead single over the weekend.

The band unveiled the lyric video for its single, ‘In Between’ Friday through Brutal Planet Magazine. The video features the song’s lyrics over images related to all things digital, which is a fit with the song’s lyrical theme. That is because, as a news release announcing the video’s premiere states, the song’s lyrical theme centers on the impact and role of social media.

The song’s musical arrangement lifts heavily from so many classic rock influences throughout its nearly three-and-a-half minute run time, but still maintains its own identity separate from the music of those bands. It is surprisingly engaging and entertaining throughout because of that unique identity.

The release date for This Is Gonna Sting is under consideration. When the record is released, it will come through Shock Records and Vanity Music Group.

In other news, Escape The Hive is scheduled to perform live in support of its new album April 28 in support of Angel at the famed Whiskey A Go-Go in Los Angeles, CA.

Lovebreakers Premieres New Album’s Lead Single, Video; Announces New Live Dates

Courtesy: Wiretap Records

Independent rock band Lovebreakers is set to release its sophomore album, Wonder, this year through Wiretap Records.

The record’s exact release date is under consideration. In anticipation of the record’s release, the band unveiled the album’s lead single, ‘Spark‘ Friday along with its companion video.

The song’s mid-tempo arrangement is a catchy poppy rock composition that immediately lends itself to comparison to works from the likes of Oasis and Blur. According to front man Jack Perry, the lyrical theme that accompanies that arrangement is meant to come across as an uplifting message of sorts, reminding listeners that we all go through difficult periods in life.

“‘Spark’ portrays a person who has lost all motivation and as a result, become fed up with who they are,” Perry said. “Some days we bathe in self-pity, whether that is disliking the way that we look, the way we treat ourselves or simply through boredom in our lives. “Spark” is a song which represents a lack of activity, alongside a constant battle of trying be a better person.’’

‘Spark’ is available now to download and stream through Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer and Amazon Music.

In other news, Lovebreakers launched a tour in support of its new album Sunday in Glasgow, Scotland. The tour is scheduled to run through Friday in Birmingham, England. The tour’s schedule is noted below:

31/01 • Manchester • Castle Hotel

Askvader Debuts New Single, ‘Don’t Worry’

Courtesy: The Sign Records

Independent rock band Askvader kicked off the weekend with the premiere of its latest single.

The band premiered its new single, ‘Don’t Worry‘ Friday. The song’s musical arrangement is a composition that will easily engage and entertain any classic rock fan and those of the current neo-classic rock movement. It makes itself comparable to works from the band’s fellow label mates on The Sign Records, The Hawkins and Heavy Feather, as well as fellow neo-classic rock band South of Eden.

According to a statement from the band presented in the news release announcing the song’s premiere, the song’s lyrical theme centers on the matter of existentialism.

“We have created a bombastic and epic piece with beautiful lyrics about solving existential anxiety with a ‘Don’t Worry (about it)’- mindset, something we commonly do in our hometown of Gothenburg, Sweden,” the statement reads.

Tempt Premiere’s ‘We Will Rock You Cover’

Courtesy: Better Noise Music

Tempt officially released its cover of the so-called “fast version” of Queen’s timeless single ‘We Will Rock You’ Friday.

The single’s premiere came more than two weeks after the band premiered the video for its take on the song. Tempt guitarist Harrison Marcello said proceeds of sales from the single’s sale will benefit the UK-based animal welfare nonprofit agency, the Save Me Trust. The agency was founded by Queen guitarist Sir Brian May.

Marcello said sending proceeds of the single’s sale to the organization was natural.

“Although I am an American, I spend a good deal of time with family in the UK countryside and honoring Sir Brian by supporting a UK initiative that he is involved with that also feels local and important to us gives the project extra meaning,” Marcello said. “We hope that Queen fans everywhere will join us and donate and that fans in other countries will reach out to donate to causes that support wildlife in their part of the world.”

Anne Brummer, Save Me Trust Chief Executive Officer, said on behalf of the agency, she was moved that the band is donating to the group.

“We are thrilled that Tempt are supporting Save Me Trust and helping us to continue to give wildlife a voice,” Brummer said. “We love their positivity and the energy they bring to their cover of ‘We Will Rock You’ – rock on!”
